Does anyone have any recommendations for single trip breakdown cover for a 16 year old VW van ? Most companies seem to let you put your details in, and some even quote, but then they inform you that 16 years is the cut off point and they can't cover you. Van is with Start Rescue for UK cover, but they won't cover it abroad.

Prefer not to if possible. Although AA direct want £115.

They are around £120 too. Think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet unless the ACO can do anything.

Can you add it onto your insurance?
I could add European breakdown cover to a normal policy on the MX5 when that was over 20 years old and my current classic policy has a module which covers both the TVR and MX5.

Good luck!

It`s a mates van and I normally cover the breakdown cover when we go to Le Mans. Just found a company called ETA who will do cover for £85 including repatriation, which is good, so I will go with them.

Not sure why you wouldn't. It's the best option and if you don't want to continue it it will only cost you £13 for a month. Bit of hassle applying for the account but worth it imo.

Here's another ruse. Buy online. (With anyone) You can cancel within 14 days and get a refund (as long as you haven't broken down)
