Just seen this referenced elsewhere so thought a heads up would be worthwhile.

Not yet up and running, cost €7 when they do & will be needed for travel to France.

Keep an eye on it for when it goes live as I can guess it will be a ball ache administratively & may take some time to come through?

Correct. The UK media has been all over this.....usual rubbish dire warnings stuff.

You can register to be e mailed with a reminder to sign up for ETIAS once it is up and running; I have done so.

I've done the same.

Note that it also says that when it comes in, there will be a 180 day grace period as well.

Inevitably, when this is live and the grace-period over, somebody here will forget and moan bitterly about it.

If it is like the American system it will only take a couple of minutes to do it online.

It will be interesting to see what rules they apply, the American ESTA can't be used if you've ever been arrested, so if the EU scheme implements similar rules there's going to be loads of chavvy types disappointed they have to apply for proper visas to go on their annual all-inclusive.

They plan on making it valid for 3 years which is an improvement on the ESTA at least.

So just to confirm, nothing is needed on this for next year's race?
