Inspired after watching eurosport coverage to take book tickets for 2024 Le-mans , last went as a teenager in the Silk Cut Jag days but was mostly pissed so cant remember much !
I have a 6.5mtr Camper van so is it a case that that just goes in normal tent camping spot , its not obvious on ACO site ?

Is it worth booking with the PH operator ?

  • Have tried searching previous posts , but cant find info
Thanks in advance ..............

Hippodrome had 40m camping spots (8x5?) and I think other sites have 35m (7x5?), so I think you should be fine. I saw plenty of large motorhomes there this year.

20 years ago we used to go in a double decker and they always managed to squeeze us in.

If in doubt book two pitches, don’t spoil your weekend over the cost of a 2nd pitch, we have been using TL for quite a few years and normally book Bleu Nord 4 pitches for car, + trailer, individual tents, 2x gazebo’s, you’re best to give yourself a bit of extra room , we were on hippodrome this year 3x 40m pitches, all worked out fine

Agree with that - it always amazes me that some seem determined to shoehorn one more tent onto a set of pitches, so much so that some are half way over the 'road'... well 30-50cm.. Some in our campsite were told to reduce their use of the road, as they just seemed to plonk their tents and cars wherever they pleased. I usually plan on 1/2 plot per person and either add a full plot for communal space or 1/2 plot depending on the group size. Of course there is also the requirement for each vehicle to have its own pass - so 1/2 pitch may not actually work in all cases.

In terms of motorhomes you may well need to consider power and connecting to it. So not all campsites will work well for you, if you need/want that. Houx fairly much guarantees power and we nabbed some in Epinettes - although that is patchy in terms of connecting - lots of Y connectors being used!! Other campsites may offer it, but those are the two I know of.

I had my motorhome on the 1st tickets bleu nord site this year on one of the smaller pitches, mines 5.9 meters long and it had a big bike carrier on the back, still loads of room.

I took my MH this year it’s 8m long with the bike rack we were able to book a 10x5m MH pitch at Tertre rouge. There was plenty of room. I have a satellite dish so was able to watch the race from under my awning., which attracted a few onlookers.
Power was a FUBAR we had to use a splitter and piggy back off a fellow MH. But it all worked out. Fresh water was a bit of a walk and if you use your toilet it can only go down the the site toilets but that’s ok.
I would say definitely go private rather than public camping.
We are going to look at Blue North PH camping next year.

You need some space to sit out in, with either a wind out awning or a gazebo to avoid sun/rain + barbecue.

Tape measure time!

Totally agree, we booked a pitch at the Porsche curves with TD, arrived on Friday this year to find a tree in the middle of our pitch, we were told take it or leave it. We made it work, but had we had a camper with an awning we'd have been screwed. I should really post this on the LeMans getting worse thread.
