So I've been seeing on Twitter. Assuming Calais but very possible other ports and tunnel exit too. Speed limit 50 kph I believe. Google Maps directions will show local limits and your own GPS speed if
it helps or if you have no onboard satnav etc

The number of idiot Eastern Europeans we have on UK roads, says you probably means it’s only fair the French target speeding Brits as well.

We don’t get as many Dutch, French, German etc drivers, so the foreign drivers tend to be EE, before anyone makes claims of racism.

Or, want to enforce their laws. Depending on how you look at it.

We go stickered up like race cars, have a history of tearing down the Autoroute and are once again immune from camera enforcement. Can you really blame them for making a visible presence as early as possible into our journeys?

With all the police cutbacks I think it's a case over the decade or so of UK roads generally not being policed and we've all got used to that and drive accordingly. Generally it's fixed penalty cameras that are any over-speed deterrent. Plus the policing structure is different in France (three types of police force) with the gendarmerie focussing on small towns and rural areas - the eagle eyed hidden tinkers always close to an autoroute junction!

I saw something recently suggesting France had twice the number of Police as the UK does, for a similar population.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Just don't see that many around any more - bogged down in paperwork and government targets.
