Any thoughts or recommendations for the Hippodrome Campsite? I plan to arrive for lunchtime on Friday.

I think the only thought is that it is a brand new site, so no-one has any clue about it.

When I looked at the latest circuit map the other day I notice it showed a link between the back of Epinettes and Hippodrome, so that is probably going to be the best/only pedestrian access.

I'm staying there too and will also be in a 987 Boxster Ed. It'll be interesting to see how we get in there as the usual entrance is part of the track. Probably under the tunnel by Tertre Rouge and using the inner circuit roads I expect. I'm arriving Wednesday morning.

There's an entrance called "Porte CIK", which I think will be the easiest to use to access the circuit.

It will all depend on if you can exit Hippodrome into the Technoparc.

The road access seems to be via the road by the Tram Station/KFC.

I'm hoping the fact that the road below Hippodrome is showing red means it's closed to traffic rather than pedestrians, but I guess I'll find out when I get there.

A zone for fans???? It is also new for this year so we shall find out. I suspect it is a posh name for a burger van.

I think the most worrying thing is the lack of toilet logos in the Hippodrome site. One of the best things about Epinettes was the good toilets/showers ratio to campers, plus the lack of 'through traffic', which looks to have ended if the Hippodromers have to share (or at least use Epinettes as their route to the circuit).

from the official site - Fan Zone: Jumbo screens, food area, kids area, Young Driver's Criterium, free entertainment area… All Le Mans lovers meet each other at the Fan Zone

Looks like a place to get food and watch on the big screen basically.

Yeah, that is strange. Hopefully just an omission from the map.

Big screens in the campsite would be cool, but I doubt there would be screens in all zones.

Although, you can get fairly modest 'big screens' - there was one in the paddock at the British GT in Silverstone a couple of weekends ago - so it might not be out of the question.

Fan zones will probably have standardised food and beer stands (and prices) to get that stadium feel and limited choice with a fairly small big screen.

I emailed the ACO about this when I got my ticket and from what I gather it's pretty close.

I'd guess its on the outside of the Hippodrome. The Hippodrome is some form of track by the look of it, either cycling or running and I guess they dont want cars driving over it

westay in epinetts for classic, its an ace location.. i imagine hippodrome will be a great location too .. its just the oter side of fence ..
from memory uts a running track google maps shows it as a running track surround by grass .. great location .. would rather be here than miles away on porsche curves,, that is a long walk or bike .. been there done that three times..

I am glad I checked.- I have a 40 sq m ticket for tent and car.

The normal use of the Hippodrome is for horse racing - https://www.turfomania.fr/fiches/hippodromes/le-ma... - it was there before the car racing if you read your history.
