Hi,

I'm booked into Clos Fleuri - but looking at the camping ticket it seems like the duration is between 2nd and 11th June only.

As the 11th June is the Sunday of the race does this mean they boot us out of the campsite the minute the race is over?

Reason for asking is previously I have stayed at the campsite on Sunday night after the race so as to take a leisurely drive back on Monday.

If this isn't possible anymore, I'll have to make other arrangements!

Thanks!

Mines the same (Beausejour) Hadn't noticed that. Just assumed it would be the the Monday. I will still assume. I doubt very much that they will be going around kicking people out on the Sunday evening!

It possibly means that they will stop checking tickets etc at that point

That's what it's usually like, the second the race is over the camp site entrance security team disappear and you're on your own. Not that they provide any actual security other than checking tickets.

I think they've learnt that we'll go in the bushes and they have to clear it up

Not the 24 but I asked by email for the Classic, and the reply from the ACO was

"It is generally tolerated to stay until monday morning."

That's helpfully specific smile

Typical French laissez faire, reminds me of a sign on a beach in the Vendee that says 'Nudism is tolerated beyond this point'

We've never left the classic until the monday morning and taken a leisurely cross county route back. Usually stopping in a french village cafe for coffee and croissants for breakfast

Another Monday traveller here. Less manic and more chilled out Sunday for us. Can have a couple of beers and either chill at the campsite or head to the town. Means a relaxing drive back up on Monday morning.

Only thing to remember is all the Racetrack food providers will have packed up, as will other places, so be prepared for food for the Sunday evening

Aye, same here. Leaving Monday morning and heading up to Le Havre for dinner, then a Tuesday evening boat back.

Come 6pm on the Sunday, the place will be dead. It's also when the nutters come out and the French contingent of the Eastern European Caravan Club come out to forage. As others have said, there's no facilities to speak of either.

There was a massive fire on Blu Nord a few years back that took out quite a few tents and contents and some berk nearly wiping out a family with kids doing doughnuts in an M4.

In my experience, you want to be gone after the race.

We're heading to Honfluer for the night and up to Calais on the Monday morning.

With Clos Fleuri being the training pitches for Le Mans FC you’d think they might be a bit more protective of the place than the normal campsites

There’s quite a lot of people that stay on Sunday night. In a public site I think packing away everything bar the tent into the car is worthwhile but for others on the private sites it makes no difference. There’s load of people still, the food and bar is still there. The town is also open late into the night so you have a lot of choices. I think it makes Sunday a lot more enjoyable.

2022 Classic was a pretty slow close at village and trade stands etc compared to pre-covid Le Mans where every shutter was down before the winner crossed the line.

BSJ fine till Monday. But no supermarkets poo pop in any Sunday so do need to plane ahead
