That doesn't come as a surprise with everything else going on at La Sarthe

Add that to the fact the DVDs are now old school, and many people don't have a dvd player any more, I wonder if Duke will have a download? That's what I bought last year. HD too, whereas DVDs are SD

No, no Duke product at all, just the ACO’s version, ideal for those who want 90 minutes without much racing rather than 4 hours of pure racing.
At least they’re consistent, that’s just the sort of people they’re pushing the fans who’ve been attending for decades out of the way for.

Yes, I'd forgotten that. 4 hours is far too long.

You can stream Eurosports 1 hour version

Or the ACO could release their Le Mans Lite version and still license Duke to do the hardcore one

Filthy lucre must surely be at work here......

I suspect that they're overexcited with the thought of filthy lucre, as they've forgotten that they also give it away free.

On YouTube, you'll find the ACO's 10 minute Highlights, their 54 minute Review, and the full race in 8 hour chunks (it was 1 hour). All official and free and HD. I suspect it's not difficult to find a utility to put it on DVD or Blu-ray if you need to (whatever happened to Blu-ray and HDDVD?) .

It could of course be that Duke don't see the financial benefits anymore of paying the LMEM licence fee, so it may not just be the ACO/WEC/LMEM being contrary.

The licence cost per broadcast minute to shoot video footage is punchy to say the least, so I dread to think what Duke have been paying. It may just not make business sense anymore with the changing way we consume media.

Sadly, it does rather ruin my DVD collection, running from 1981 to 2021, plus quite a few more going back to 1954
