Which LMDH Teams at LM 2023?
Discussion
https://www.dailysportscar.com/2022/07/21/2023-hyp... this is a useful guide as to who is doing what and when.
All of the currently announced LMH entries will be there, as thus-far LMH is a WEC only class - 2x Toyota, 2x Peugeot, 1 maybe 2x Glickenhaus, 2x Ferrari.
From LMDH (WEC and IMSA), likely 8x Porsche (2x WEC and 2x IMSA factory efforts, plus another 2x privateer each from WEC and IMSA), Cadillac (1x WEC definite, likely another from IMSA).
It's possible that Acura (Honda) might bring over one or both of their IMSA entries, but nothing confirmed. BMW definitely not coming until they enter WEC in 2024. Alpine and Lamborghini not racing their LMDH entries until 2024.
There are still two potential LMH entries - Vanwall (who were ByKolles in the LMP1 era), who are currently in a trademark dispute with someone else who reckons they also own the Vanwall name. The car is running though, and surprisingly not on fire for those that remember ByKolles. There's also Isotta Fraschini who haven't really shown anything at all and I'd be blown away if they made the Le Mans grid next year.
In total, even ignoring the yet-to-be-announced LMH entries, I make that 18 potential entries in the top class at Le Mans, with even more for the year after... Is it June yet?

I think that’s a bit over optimistic on the number of American teams coming over, Acura won’t be and I can’t see us getting near 8 Porches, but it’s still going to be the best top class field for years, and even better the year after. All of the currently announced LMH entries will be there, as thus-far LMH is a WEC only class - 2x Toyota, 2x Peugeot, 1 maybe 2x Glickenhaus, 2x Ferrari.

If a privateer team could win overall at Le Mans in next few years, 2023 would be the year to do it before most of the manufacturers have had a season to get rid of minor parts failures that may pop up during racing (like Peugeot had in Japan). 2 factory cars rather than 3 of a few years back too.
Porsche privateer would probably be best bet.
LMDh cars are getting a few more races in before LM if ready for IMSA season and 24 hour run out at Daytona in January I presume.

Jota and WRT have got to be the ones to watch in the privateer Porsche arena….two great teams that have had many an exiting battlePorsche privateer would probably be best bet.

This is so good for Le Mans. Amazing how quickly the event can turn around. Prototypes and GT looking promising for the next few years. I’m a little bit torn though for next year. Porsche owner / fan and particularly like their LM race history but I’ve been a Ferrari F1 fan for 30 plus years. Regardless, fantastic to have a factory battle on like this again.
