Hopefully the most suitable forum based on local experience !

Can anyone recommend a BMW E46 M3 specialist, either BMW or Independent Specialist that lives / works within an hour of Le Mans ? Oh and preferably speaks good English !

Mate of mine has an issue that has been diagnosed over the phone by a UK specialist as an ECU problem but need to get someone with pukka BMW test kit to pinpoint exactly which ECU ( apparently there are 8 ) or sensor(s) is causing the problem. The issue is random and when it occurs it results in the engine revving to 5000 - 6000 revs without touching the throttle.

So far he has drawn a blank with local specialists in France so I said I'd help him out by calling on the mighty power of PH wink

Any input gratefully received smile

Sorry can only suggest main dealer.
I’ve just searched on the French BMW club forum and they don’t have a list of garages.
It’s quite rare in France to find specialist garages for classics, not round here and most are specialist in non cpu cars if you get my drift.
Hopefully some one may come along with a source in Le Mans as I’m 40k south.

Many thanks Leyorkie - that just about sums up online searches so far !

Not many options left as the car is undriveable....

Thinks. Can anyone suggest a flatbed outfit that don’t charge extortionate amounts, or alternatively does anyone have a trailer that they could help out with ? Luckily my mate has a pickup truck with towbar as his daily.....

Failing that he might need to invest in buying a trailer.....!

TIA

A flatbed truck costs approx 130 euro per day plus mileage charges. (Hyper U Ecommoy)
Trailers can be hired in Le Mans, but I don’t know the cost.
Just moved an immobile car approx 50 k and it cost 300 euro with a recovery service.

Might be worth giving Provost Automobiles a call (http://provost-auto.fr/). Not a BMW specialist but a classic/prestige garage just north of Le Mans who might be able to help or put you in contact with someone. Only thing is staff are generally only French speaking.

Not a specialist BMW garage but there's a classic car garage about halfway down Rue de la Heronniere (Road that runs between Blue nord and blue sud campsites) on the way to Arnage. May be worth a look?

Certainly during the 24hrs week that road's closed, so good chance it's closed Classic week too - and if the roads closed I'd guess the garage would be too.
