It’s finally the day to get on the ferry.

Excited doesn’t quite cover it! Can’t wait to get back down to Le Mans.

Have a great trip everyone.

Indeed. It seems ages since the last trip (16 days) biggrin

It would be better if there was a bigger gap between the 2 Le Mans events, but I guess they can share some of the infrastructure costs by having them both in the same month.

Weather looks good other than tomorrow - which is when we are driving down.

I am most looking forward to the Panoz in the 'Legends' support race.

Probably saving cutting the grass on campsites again 😀

Bigger gap would be better this year as had an 11 day family holiday with very early start since Le Mans due to rolling over the trips.

Does save some infrastructure costs to and some of the campsites marquees/toilet left up. So hopefully Chappell ACO area left up too.

Plus I haven’t really unpacked fully and just washed all the dust off car yesterday and still StickeredUp4LeMansClassic

On the subject of grass I expect lots of slow sections on A16 tomorrow for the National Autoroute Verge Cutting Week.

"National Autoroute Verge Cutting Week" Is that really a thing! I just drove back from Paris on Monday and saw the odd section down to one lane for Verge cutting, We'll be exiting at Sortie 10 and taking the back roads tomorrow...

Has anyone heard times for on track stuff not on the official schedule? The Mazda is doing demo laps, but not found times, so not sure if this is within a scheduled parade time, or pre legends race. Also, any off track meets which are not really advertised? We always manage to have lunch in Arnage when the parade is on during the 24hr buts that’s more luck that through planning.

Just Drove through Arnage , mini riot on the with hordes of well consumed young men ... Also just too many people here some areas are just too crowed to get down , but solid fun

Timetable appears quite flexible.

Is it normal for the Radio Le Mans FM channel to be 99% in French?

Yes for the Classic I'm told as the 24hr commentators aren't here

Fun it is it going to ps off the locals. Wonder if it’s a couple of years away, lockdown or just a continuing trend that we are seeing but there seems to be an ‘element’ that really isn’t advancing entente cordial. Saw some video footage from the 24hr that was good fun for some but highly disregarded for most

They’ve basically been an hour behind for 2 days now. Yesterday for a red flag (fair enough) but never caught back the time. Today they just started late… never caught it back! Now we’ve got the rubbish grid 1 at dusk and dawn…

Edit: Want to expand on that statement a bit. Great cars and exciting to watch, but on a shorter track. Around Goodwood - fantastic. But here you don’t see enough of them.

My 1st Classic. Was really a great experience. Very different in many ways from the usual Le Mans. For those that have been to Classic in the past how did this compare?

Was excellent but very crowed in the village areas , yes the late running and sub optimal organisation was a drag , sadly had to start my race from the pitman and then due to chaotic start procedure , lost two laps. But still the premier car event globally , just needs fine tuning .

Another good trip across the channel.

I think the Classic provides a better 'Le Mans' experience than the 24 hours, more relaxed atmosphere, nicer cars in the campsite, some 'high jinx' but no real anti-social behaviour (although one of our group witnessed a heated argument on Maison Blanche over music volume one evening), an earlier finish so you can get back home at a respectable hour.

Good to see a large crowd, but it never felt over-crowded, although I suspect lack of video screens in places like Tertre Rouge or the Esses kept people away from those places.

It was also good to have cars on track that actually make a noise (and smells!) compared to the muted sounds of contemporary racers.

Highlight of the weekend was walking back from the tram stop at Tertre Rouge around midnight on Thursday through a ghost town circuit and Village - being in places you've known for 25 years always heaving with thousands of fans but now you are the only people there, wandering around in silence....

Yep, another great trip.

Although it was a bit overcrowded on Saturday and Sunday in the village area - too many people funnelling through a small area under the Don Panoz bridge into the village area... However it only happened once or twice.

Almost too much variety - loads of car clubs, a lot of racing cars - but then hopefully something for everyone. Obviously covering about 1923 - 2005 ish... That's a lot of motoring heritage to get on track! Hundreds of cars a thousand or so competitors - it would be 'good' to see some stats. Plus Parade laps plus bus tours plus plus plus!

My only slight downside would be the big variety and over loudness of some of the music in the village... But then some seemed to be enjoying the various offerings... I guess I'm just not in their demographic!!

Lots of really, really interesting cars to see up close, both in the club areas and campsites and parking areas - some real gems and rare offerings. The new De Tomaso Panteras looked amazing - wantone!

Indeed. Both times I found time to walk the paddocks was in the evenings (Friday and Saturday), and lots of the car club vehicles had gone home.

Still, it is better for there to be too much to see than not enough.

Been to the LM24 every year since about 2004. Never done the classic. I'm going to try and do both next year.
For the LM24 we take a caravan and camp in Houx. Did I dream it or is Houx unavailable for the Classic?

And lastly, when is the best day to arrive for the Classic? I plan on staying the Sunday evening and travelling home on the Monday as I do for the 24.

Houx is booked out for competitors and their mechanics and family.

Maison Blanche is available for the Classic - well it has been for the past 2 or so.. Most other campsites are available as well.

Nothing really gets going until the Friday, we tend to arrive on the Thursday. Then it's quite packed.

Next year could be different - due to it being the 100th Anniversary year of Le Mans, which I'm sure you're aware of and both LM24 and LMC are running next year as well. Expect it to be busy and both events to be popular.
