Hi, I haven't been to the Lemans Classic for 10 years so I have a few questions.

Monday morning I am retuning to the UK on the 8:30 sailing from Caen/Ouistreham.

The camping ticket for the Beausejour campsite says it is valid from 30 June to the 3 July. Sunday is the 3rd so that implies we need to leave on the Sunday. 10 years ago at Blue Nord we did that. Packed up Sunday afternoon and left. My vague recollection is that there were still some tents there. Am i correct that you are expected to leave on the Sunday?

In 2012 we camped a night at a site in a resort east of Ouistreham. It was OK but far from ideal.

A friend recommended a site they have used retuning from holiday in Ouistreham called Camping Riva Bella which is very close to the ferry terminal. They last went there in 2017 and the recent Trip Advisor comments are rather grim owing to a migrant encampment next door.

Does anyone have a site recommendation that doesn't mind you leaving at 6:30 in the morning?

Thanks,
David

We left Houx at 0500 this year for that sailing. There's no issue staying Sunday night at the LM24, can't imagine the Classic is any different.

The only issue is there is no security after the race, so make sure all your stuff is hidden and secure.

There is security, or at least there is at BSJ. It's possibly easier to bypass post-race.

We really enjoy staying that extra night. Means less of a rush after the race and we usually head into Le Mans town for some drinks and food.

Thanks for the answers about staying the extra night.

On balance I prefer to use a scenic cross country route back to the port so driving up on the Sunday late afternoon would be best. So if anyone has advice about the camp sites near the port that would be good.

Late notice but may help some - Riva Bella in Ouistreham has changed management but is still fine for an overnight stop. My group stayed there on the way back a couple of weeks ago although booking was a bit of a faff. It's really set up as a site for longer holiday stays and it's pretty quiet. The migrant camp by the roundabout looked to have been long dispersed. If you do camp in Ouistreham expect everything to be damp in the morning - being right by the sea there's always a heavy dew-fall.

Pretty damp every morning early at Le Mans too.

Peg tent through a cheap tarpaulin (£5 to £10) and take down tent & fold tent up on that nice and dry side and if tarpaulin all wet underneath dispose of it carefully before you leave or fold it in on itself for packing and next time.

Early start from Le Mans and you've still 90 mins of daylight for scenic bits closer to Caen from 6 to 7.30am and saves a pitch and take down and packing etc - forecast very good for WE and with sun early Monday
