MOT Needed for a 73 car for Le Mans trip?

Putting this question on here rather than the Classic thread as it will receive more answers and i`m sure a load of you took your classics down for the main event. Going in my brothers 73 Corvette, does the car have to have a UK MOT to travel through France, obviously not required over here.

In theory if the car is legal for the UK then it will be legal for France.

I suspect having proof the car is taxed would satisfy any paperwork checks if asked to show an MoT.

Been going to Le Mans since 1999 in the same (1971) car. Never been asked for car paperwork. If you have an accident (as in the UK) an MoT certificate might help you to prove the car is roadworthy.
