It was nice to be back! The weather of Wednesday - Friday was ideal, right temperature and cloudy so no sun burn! Saturday and Sunday hotter and less clouds but not as scorching as some years.

Never had bag searched entering the circuit but had to open the car boot every time I entered the campsite but no idea what they were looking for - not sure they did either!

Saw one other person wearing a Pistonheads polo shirt - well to be honest they saw me and said “Great Shirt” I was a bit puzzled and saw there own too late!

Seemed to be a far greater percentage of women and children attending.

Numbers though seemed to be down and the centre of Le Mans seemed quiet on the Friday although a lot better for it. Didn’t stay for the Parade would have done if the reduction in numbers meant viewing was possible.

Radio Le Mans why can’t they cover some of the other races? Johnny Mowlem was fantastic though - really enjoyed his input.

A few Police to be spotted hiding on the journey home, left the circuit after the race and just made the 21.35 ferry from Calais, had been told we would be on the 22.45 but when we got quayside where put on the earlier one.

Went out Newhaven Dieppe on the night crossing, wasn’t as knackering as I thought it would be!

Yes, certainly looking more family oriented. Not sure we really need hair dressers, nail bars and green zones!

It seemed quiet running up to race day but then the numbers seemed average, the whole area seemed ‘quiet’ though....not sure if that a couple of years of isolation or people attending.

Certainly fewer screens, more bars and good racing, but beer prices are too high in my opinion..as ever it was..so I tend to drink at camp with our crew and as such that maybe the more normal now and such such the ‘quiet’.

I reckon next year will enormous and really looking forward to it

P.s.....how punk is it that a bunch of scouts should stop The Stranglers for a short period!!!

That's better than I thought, we were chatting about it while watching the race at home and all guessed €12.

I need to start saving for next year in any case!

I could understand no bottled beer but they were trying to stop all alcohol. We were in Terte Rouge campsite. No problem in a vehicle but coming back in the top entrance with various bbq foods and a box of wine they tried to take it off us. Went through the main entrance and it was no problem.
Terte Rouge had new electrics which were better. They removed one of the portacabin toilet/shower block and had a proper built one down one end. Problem was only 3 traps and 3 showers which is less than the old one. We wondered if it's part of an ongoing improvement and there will be a cople more built.
Loved the track being open Friday afternoon, that was excellent.

I watched it from home as I’m going to the Classic this year. Really missed every minute of not being there. I think this year was expected to be a little down on numbers as there’s still a lot of uncertainty around covid. I think next year will be a significant pick up in numbers.

I’m looking forward to Classic, I suspect numbers will be down further from this Le Mans as I see some are still offering camping packages. It will be nice to be back at least and we have a good group going. Looking forward to seeing the circuit and town again after all this time!

Are you saying next year will be bigger numbers attending or is there something else on the cards like the different type of cars?

Both, IMO

First year of LMDH so there will be twice as many top class cars

100 year anniversary, so there will be massive celebrations based around that

More spectators partly because of both of the above and hopefully Covid and travel issues further from peoples thoughts

There seemed to be plenty of empty spaces on Houx and Epinettes camp sites.

The big 'party tent' setups on Houx were noticable by their absense, which might give a clue to the type of fan giving this year a miss.

The entrances around Houx had no bag searches all week, so no issue bringing in your own cans to avoid the Robdog beer prices - I think I had one official pint all week and we cashed in our Ecocups after the race as well.

Looking forward to The Classic in 3 weeks....

It may be how many are allowed by ACO.....

2 x Toyota (assumed)
2 x Glickenhaus
2 x Peugeot
2 x Porsche
2 x Cadilac - tweeted by FIA WEC a confirmed entry

all 2 car entries assumed.

Plus i'm sure i heard Glic. were selling a couple of their cars for a privateer attack on the race too

That will cover the loss of GTE pro entries pretty much

Plus:
BMW are doing a LMDh car for IMSA, poss a 24hLM entry?
Ferrari - maybe from 2024?

BMW won’t be at Le Mans for 2023, but for the 100th year and the 50th anniversary since their last works entry I thought that Ferrari would be.

Strange week. Some points felt very quiet. Other seemed extremely busy. Pierre Fillon announced 240,000 today

Bizarrely people report that campsites are quiet, yet Most of them are sold out

Still don’t like Hyperpole.

Had a mega week as usual though

Nothing crap about 1664 IMO but that price for presumably 0.5 L is French robbery.

I used to like it but it tasted different, had a sort of fruity malt taste, which I have not recognised before?
