Who are others using for parade lap insurance?

I’ve had a quote from Moris but it’s double what I paid last time.

Car is a TVR T350T.

Thanks in advance

Just out of interest, what is that amount?

Is this a ‘nice to have’? I’ve not read anything about proof of insurance on track??

My road policy would exclude this activity, but I’m balancing risk of not intending to drive it like a track day and allowing plenty of space for those who do.

I thought the usual prohibition in insurance policies is along the lines of "track days, time trials or competitive driving". I can't see a parade being a problem whether it's through the streets of Le Mans or on the circuit.

It’s not obligatory but it’s recommended. There are some real numpties out there, for whom the purple mist descends as soon as they get on the track.

Quote from Moris was £134 with an excess of £1800! I also intend to keep away from others and yes, I know it’s ‘just’ parade laps and not competitive but as said, it’s the others I worry about.

Hi there, I am new to this forum - can anyone share some light on whether or not you need civil liability insurance for a parade lap at the 2022 Lemans classic - I have been warned by an insurer that third party insurance is nigh on impossible to puchase, i.e. if you cause injury or a fatality to a person, spectator or other track user?.....you will be personally liable! I believe that French law says you must have this, but how do you get it?

Last time I enquired they wanted 10% of the car value, so I've declined the parade lap...

it's not a parade, Peter Auto are giving you the opportunity to drive the track! It's not like Silverstone, Spa you can drive even quicker.

Any particular recommendation?

Just spoke with one and they were saying in the 300-400 price bracket. That’s more than my years road cover!

I think the risk can be controlled. If I could find something around 100-150 it would be a nice to have.

Am I right in thinking you get about 2-3 laps or is the session longer?

I think its 20-30 mins.

My plan is to position myself close to the front (if there is a choice), let everything pass me down Mulsanne to enjoy the sights & sounds, then wobble round on my own. It's bad enough doing 85mph on the toll roads when 'corners' arrive, so I'll be taking it nice and steady.

I'm hoping there might be some professional photographers knocking about who make a bit on the side from these parade laps as its just me and my lad this year.

I've also seen that the Pistonheads parking is #75 on the inside of the Garage Vert hairpin so should be parked up there after the lap.

In two minds about insurance, not bothered before when I did parade laps at the 24hr, or the Friday Parade in town, so think I'll just risk it and keep it clean.

Yes its a timed session so the faster you go the more laps you could get
Have you tried these guys? https://trackday.moris.co.uk/

Anyone know if we have to wear helmets again this year?

Anyone know if convertible roofs need to be up? I’ve got t-tops which would be easier if they could be removed to give us more room for helmets.

Just got a quote for £174.

It would be peace of mind should the worst happen but also yet another expense for the trip.

I know I won’t be going off track into barriers because I won’t be driving like that. It is just the factor of someone else doing something stupid and plowing into the back of you to consider.

Got a quote of £66 for the Vette for one day with Moris. Sounds like its for YOUR own car, so won't cover any damage you could cause to another car if you're at fault. Not sure what happens to another party, but at least I'd be covered. Might be worth it for peace of mind.

100% its worth it.
As for the other parties Its called tough st!, You have taken out cover, if they choose not to then that's down to them!

I had this years ago at the festival of 1000 bikes at brands hatch, i was in a fast parade of bikes on circuit, the front brake fluid boiled, expanded and jammed on the front brake of my triumph 750, right in front of the grandstands, i was near the pit wall but could not move the bike! a 1 month old Honda Goldwing with trailer rider was not paying attention to me stopped, panicked last minute and dropped the bike and slid into the back of me. the marshals had to keep us apart because lets just say i was not too happy! i ended up with a slightly bent rear mudguard, he ended up with several thousand pounds damage and no insurance. So for £66 quid its a no brainer.
