Good restaurants in Arnage and Leman?

Arnage: slim pickings, mediocre food. Pizza place is passable.
Le Mans: both places on rue du Cornet, the Tajmahal and El Taquito.
One of the finest restaurants in the Sarthe is at Arnage called the Auberge de Matfeux. Go south out of the town and it is on the left quite well hidden. In town, the Sept Plats is well known and a walk down the cobbled street from the cathedral will reveal a number of restaurants.Le Mans: both places on rue du Cornet, the Tajmahal and El Taquito.

Unfortunately the rest of my group didn’t want a decent meal so we ended up eating at one of the places in the Republic square paying 29 euro for a very mediocre meal - although to be expected given the location and it was the Fridaylowdrag said:

Depends what you mean by "good". I can't comment on "good == fine dining" but if it's "good == not bad/dissapointing" then most of the restaurants in Place de la Republique will be a little but of a let down. Don't get me wrong they are all perfectly fine, just a lot of generic pizzas, etc with a clear "We have lots of outside seats" mark-up applied. From memory the exception was Galand in the north corner.
If you want something a little more interesting I'd head off the north (Societe General) side of PdlR to the road that runs parallel to that side (Place de l'Emperon) and into the cross roads of cobbled alleys on the other side (just to the left of the Bombay indian restaurant). Eaten in most of those places over the years and always been happy. We eat in La Fabrique last month and really enjoyed it. Very quaffable €35 Saint-Emilion grand cru too.
