What are fuel prices in France at the moment? Is it better to get on the ferry with a full tank or empty tank?

Petrol is €1.93 and diesel €1.85, these are averages. Also think about how you are paying, I use Revolut banking when travelling as there is no transaction charge and the exchange rate is near as day spot rates . If you use your normal UK bank card the net result will be about the same price as uk

Looking at https://carbu.com/france//liste-stations-service/E...

It seems that there isn't much in it for petrol. 95 E10 is north of €1.90 vs £1.60

However if you are in an oil-burner, diesel is cheaper than petrol in France so fill that when you get there.

I'm assuming that the Peage petrol is still expensive. Due to most of the small French filling stations having closed, I always go with a full tank as that will get me there.

A few years back, we were travelling overnight, and ran short of petrol at Rouen. We found two places with "pay at pump" machines, but in those days, they didn't like UK credit cards. So we went on the Peage a few miles towards Caen, filled up, turned round, with the chap in the toll booth having a good laugh.

There's a pretty good Super U supermarket (pattisserie and beers and bread and cheese etc) and local price petrol station at Ste-Jamme-sur- Sarthe - its about 1 mile off the old road (D338) and about14kms before Le Mans.

I need to fill up around then and also makes a good break before busy roads in Le Mans.

If come off autoroute south of Alencon, there's 35km or so of the old route with a few great villages etc without too much of the delays and traffic in Alencon and the road closer to Rouen.

I’m currently at the N24 and have used 1-2-3 Fuel in both France and Germany - prices have been accurate as well as opening times.

Did the same earlier today. Recent holiday made me look at options. Some of the bank fees could be quite high on fuel, hotels, meals.

My car is diesel. Only slight issue with arriving with an empty tank is that the ferry gets into Dieppe at 4.30am! Think I'll ensure I have enough fuel to get to the circuit before getting on the ferry!

Paying about 1.70 euro per litre of diesel in France at the moment

I actually have no idea if that includes the governments discount or if the discount is then taken off it -
https://www.connexionfrance.com/article/French-new...

So far it’s a lot cheaper than the £1.85 I paid in Hertfordshire on friday

At least one of the Dieppe supermarkets has 24hr fuel, but you'll never find it. Tank up at the filling station on the A27 just past B&H Albion
