European Insurance
Discussion
I may be telling grannies how to suck eggs here, but...
My insurance policy stated I had cover in Europe for my TVR Tuscan, and advised I did not require a green card.
However I decided to call them anyway just to double check, turns out the cover in Europe drops to third party F&T only unless you pay for a green card; most people might be aware of this but thought it worth mentioning just in case.
Suffice to say I have now taken a green card at £32 to cover the trip and provide fully comp cover.
Cheers and roll on June....

My understanding has always been that if you have fully comprehensive cover in the UK, an extension for Europe will get you the legal minimum per country only. You can get comprehensive cover extension for Europe on request and by paying the extra cost. I did this for many years until renewal in 2021.

Famous words...
"It depends..."
Back in the days we were in the EU I think any policy gave you the legally required cover.
But now, it would be advantageous to take a fine tooth comb to your policy and schedule to check for any gotchas.
I think my policy is up to 90 days of cover at the same level as in the UK, I'll have to check it again. I know the driving another car on 3rd party cover isn't valid aboard. I do have European breakdown cover through my policy, that was one of the boxes I ticked on go-compare.
