Normally we eat dinner as a group at an awful hotel with an awful view a long way from the Mulsanne straight - usually 4 - 5 courses. Unfortunately this year they are not doing dinner, but a 'sandwich'. Disappointing.

Any recommendations for other venues for either Friday or Saturday nights?

Plenty of places in the old town or opposite the cathedral

Friday night is normally fun in any of the pop up restaurants in Arnage. There are decent restaurants in Le Mans old town, easy ride on the tram from the stadium. There’s also a newer restaurant adjacent on the outside of the Mulsanne straight that’s open during the race.

What’s this new Mulsanne restaurant please?

We ate there for a few years, terrible place, can't talk properly, really noisy and flashing lights outside really detract from the nice candle lit ambience we were after.

My friend said when I suggested dinner... he said "Somewhere cheap..." we went the Julien's place (MD)... not exactly what you are expecting on the greatest week end of the year... I haven't seen him since (my friend) that was a really defining moment, seeing him scoffing a burger with great satisfaction... perhaps we have moved away from each other... he is certainly not being invited if I ever go back to LM PS he is loaded three house and five cars

We traditionally have a meal in Le Mans centre on the Friday, used to do it after the Parade but these days we have lunch. This started due to my wife coming down by train and it was easier to meet her at the station. She no longer comes due to need to stay at home with daughter but we still eat in the centre of Le Mans Friday lunchtime.

Our preferred restaurant was a very short distance from the station, however it closed early 2018, so 2018 we ate in the Hotel Concordia which I wouldnt recommend. In 2019 we explored the old town and found a place there, only slight problem being I cant remember what its called!

Just do the double like we do - in early for a nice lunch before finding a good spot (ideally with tables/beer service) to watch the parade, then go for a post-parade meal to avoid the crowds on the tram, catching one of the last ones back to the circuit.

Or of course as I remember from one especially...festive year you can do lunch pre-parade, dinner post-parade, post-dinner drinking in town, then second dinner at the new roundabout when you get of the tram at Antares as you've realised you WAY to drunk to make it back to Bleu without it biggrin
