Hi All

Sorry to suck the positivity out of this year’s thread, but I’ve been taking a look into what is needed. There are 2 questions I’m grappling with:
1. What is needed to get into France? So far it appears that the NHS pass for those fully vaccinated (2 doses plus the booster) plus a declaration form. Not PCR testing required.
2. What is needed to get into the circuit? Form what is shown on the Le Mans 24 website, a Pass Sanitare is still needed. According to the Government website, to apply for a Pass Sanitare requires you to have had your booster within 4 months of your previous doses and if not will need to be readministered.

Anyone else know or have read differently? Please correct any of the above if I’ve got it wrong.

Nothing. All the rules changed at the end of March. I went skiing in April, via train and whilst I did ensure I had an NHS 'pass' on the App and had downloaded the French equivalent and imported the NHS pass into it we only need to show it once, when entering France. That was it, no other paperwork. Of course LM might require some extra 'paperwork' but it could all change a few times before then anyway. Currently you need very little.

Eurotunnel wants you to upload the vaccination certificate onto their website, needs to be done more than 3 days before date of travel.

I get the joys of N24 and LM24 (two weeks apart) so I’ll know myself end of May.

I’ll get the Tous COVID app as well, just in case.

You had me worried there, that makes it sound like it's mandatory to upload them, for clarity, it's not:

"Prior to travel, you can upload the required documents detailed above to your booking by logging into your account/booking and completing your declarations. Failure to do so will result in manual checks being required which will delay your departure."

I'm not sure about having to upload anything, unless that's Eurotunnel-specific. We travelled by (DFDS) ferry Dover-Dunkirk on Sunday, had to vaguely show (the official simply accepted we had one rather than going in to further scrutiny) our Vaccine Passport at the first (UK-side) border control but that was all. No other checks, no on-line requirements, no masks while travelling etc etc.

It is simple enough to load a UK vaccine cert into the French app, even if you are unlikely to ever need to show it.

The Tous anti Covid pass is not being used here and little mask wearing possibly more than uk but still voluntary.
Can’t see any restrictions working this year if numbers are up. Social distancing?

Ah - I’d taken it as mandatory but it’s no effort to do it so may as well.

What pi$$es me off is that the NHS vaccine certificates are only valid for a month, so if you download a bit early they could expire unnecessarily.

Any news on bacon smuggling?

Anything goes re the smuggling....
DFDS Newhaven pre Easter, at check-in I was asked if double jabbed, no proof asked for...
pulled aside for usual blurb on packing, guns etc.
Then in a first for me, asked to open bonnet, girl asks if recent service, MOT etc, starts prodding the sound proofing and flashlight around the engine compartment....
Skoda Superb estate, absolutely rammed with boxes, bags, odd food from fridge.... Didn't even peer inside let alone open the doors

thats because you were pulled at random. She had a choice, check under the bonnet or full search of the back. Unless she thought you were a a smuggler she was always going for the bonnet option!

A while back I was once asked to open the boot at Dunquerke, since I was driving a boxster I answered, "which one?" Thankfully they didn't ask to look under the bonnet.

Even further back in time I was stopped at a back road customs post between Belgium and France where they got us out of the car and popped the sniffer dog in. The dog must have got a whiff of what we had in the boot....

Only beer and chocolates.

Then there was the time UK customs had me take the back seat out because I had a map open at the Antwerp town plan...

...same page as Amsterdam.

Thanks for all the replies guys, sounds like if regs stay the same, entering France will be pretty hassle free. We’ll have to wait to see if anything further gets put in place by the ACO for entry to the track.
