Hello all,
i know that some of you have impressive tv set ups during the race. I'm not aiming for anything quite that full on, with satellite dishes etc. i just wondered if there was an easy way to get a bit of live telly at night and stick it on a little camping projector I've got somewhere in the loft.
I've got a phone contract with unlimited date (if that still works in Europe) so could use mobile data to stream it but i wondered if there was a simple way of doing this without carting loads of hardware to france?
thanks
paul

I'm sure we had something on the WEC app a few years back. You'd need a TV you could cast to, mains electricity, and check that WEC still have LM and that your phone company hasn't limited data outside the UK.
Eurosport may let one of the local terrestrial channels show the start and finish, but that's probably not the bits you want, and could be a pay channel anyway.
Mad, isn't it

It has improved over the years, but can't quite keep up with demand.
We were losing interest with TV pre covid, and I miss the after midnight sessions with the TV, Radio Le Mans and a bottle of something I wouldn't ordinarily drink. I'm wondering what our covid refugees will make of it this year.

For me the best combo is Radio Le Mans...having scouted the campsite to work out who has a TV. If something really important happens you usually see a hurd of Le Mans Meerkats pop their heads up on each campsite and go scurrying towards the nearest TV

I’ve done this the last few times we’ve been to LM - picked up a cheap DVB T2 receiver off Amazon, plugged into a pico projector. Heavily reliant on getting a good signal but worked well enough. Mine can run off USB with the correct cable so in theory a power bank could power it for a decent amount of time.
I think it’s France 3 that provide the race coverage but it’s mostly overnight plus the start and finish….

You learn something new every day. According to the internet.
The race will also be on France 3 and www.France.tv, from 14:16 to 17:06 on Saturday and 00:15 to 11:45 and 12:55 to 14:55 on Sunday.
France 3 is a French free-to-air public television channel.
Transmitter is south of Mulsanne village

France 3 is on Astra 19.2 but is encoded as part of the Canal+ package.
I'm afraid you'll need an ordinary aerial. This is dependant on https://lemansraceinfo.com/tv-coverage/ being correct. Their section on 2022 TV mentions a race in September. I hope its bad updating, but I shall be hooked into 19.2 as well as timings may be different

Is German Eurosport still free to air via analogue satellite setup please?

Folks in Germany can use Eurosport to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans through their favorite device.Eurosport is available on various devices. Consider visiting the site to find out if your device is compatible with the service. Download the App or visit Eurosport’s official site for live streaming service.
I hope this is still accurate as that's very much what I was planning to do.

Sadly it died about 6 years ago, along with the option of English sound. However, its there for free on digital Astra 19.2 on 12226 H, but you'll have to listen to Radio Le Mans. Eurosport 1 show the start and finish plus late evening and overnight when there's nothing else on. The rest is on Eurosport 2, which is encodedIt may be on terrestrial too - France 3, but no idea of the timings yet
A bit late to the party but I wrote a guide that still holds true. https://www.reddit.com/r/lemans/comments/br7wlo/up... and can be done with a cheap satellite box and old Sky dish
German Eurosport ("vintage satellite") is FTA and have had no issues in the past getting pretty much all of the race. We do have a FTA DVB box for France but in years gone by I've never managed to make any use of it. You'll want to mute it and run audio from Radio LM.
There's no chance of there being enough cellular coverage during racing hours for you to stream video. You might get a call, a text or maybe a photo message but that's about it. As others, it's got better year on year. Note also that the "fair use" cap for your unlimited data abroad is usually 15-25GB, which, based on around 2-3GB/hr is rarely going to cover you for the week.
