hello

has anyone got a good route for a bike ride around the whole track while the race is on?

we did it a few years back one nighttime years ago, without really meaning to, but wondered if anyone had a nice route we could tackle in the light.

Thanks

paul

You need to check from Arnage to Mulsanne as some roads are closed and some restricted to one way

With Arnage corner to Mulsanne closed, its a long way round by car. However, there are tracks through the woods, that could be "interesting", including the one past the bomber crash memorial. Have a look on Google maps, but they'd be daft not to block them

The first time I went to Arnage corner the roundabout hadn't been built and the road took a deviation behind a temporary fence to cut past the live race track, you can see where it used to go by the scruffy patch of grass next to the roundabout on the "satellite" image. Because of that it was one way from Arnage Ville towards Mulsanne Corner. On my most recent visit, since the roundabout was built, it was two way.

The route is very much "within earshot" but don't expect to see a great deal from your bike.

The tracks are all controlled only allowing marshals in with the correct pass, different passes for different areas

thanks for that OvalOwl. that detour at the top at the top of Mulsanne looks doable. bit of a pain but ok. not too worried about watching much at that point, just fancied getting all the way round again.

If you want to stop at Mulsanne and then go back the way you came, then peel off the route at this location, show your GA ticket at 'X' and then cycle past the Mulsanne camping area toward the banking at the corner

Yes, gone are the days when you could creep through the woods, but spot the Gendarmes from the red glow of their Gitanes. I got completely lost in the dark one year, but realised we were by the hippodrome, and nearly home. Its all a commercial estate now and the Gendarmes are gone too, we just get the riot police, talking of which, they were out today in Paris. Its no longer the Gilet Jaune, but the Black Balaclavas

There used to be access to the Mulsanne spectator area via the small industrial zone.

I've used the slightly less minor roads on the east and south to drive from Parking Rouge to the "country corners" avoiding the road at the back of the main stands which always seemed to be gridlocked.
