Porsche Curves campsite on the Sunday night
Discussion
Hoping someone can tell me what the atmosphere is like on the Sunday after the race in the Travel Destinations Porsche Curves campsite?
Having tried to at Blue Nord one year the Sunday, we hastily packed up and left when flocks of rather unsavory looking folk started searching through tents and litter for anything of value.
I'm sure Porsche Curves won't be like that as it is gated, guarded, has a nice bar and clean facilities, but wondering if everyone f#@ks off Sunday and finds a hotel or is it still fun to stick around and leave the Monday?

One of the great things about the porsche curves site is the ability to leg it after the race, beat the queue and get on the road. Much harder to do from BN.Having tried to at Blue Nord one year the Sunday, we hastily packed up and left when flocks of rather unsavory looking folk started searching through tents and litter for anything of value.

We've stayed on Sunday night and will do again this year, very relaxed, bar still open, gated as you mentioned so very safe. Some might think of it as an anti-climax after the race but we strolled from Porsche curves along the track to the finish line where an hour or two earlier the cars had been screaming past, the amount of marbles by the track was amazing. I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested.
I may be wrong but gather Porsche Curves with TD may well already be fully booked, worth checking with them. I'd kept my booking from 2020 so luckily got in this year. I guess the amount of messing around TD had in 2020 and man hours spent trying to sort the constant changes, they didn't bother in 2021. Hoppe 2022 goes well.

Thanks Northcote,
I'm booked in with TD already; same thing here with old bookings rolling over from previous years. I stayed therenin 2018 but left before the end of the race which sucked due to the last few laps having a big impact on the final standings; this year we want to see the chequered flag, but weighing up if we leave Sunday at 5ish and find a hotel, hit shower, proper bed, or stick it out in the tent and then head off early Monday for a nice drive back to Calais for a 4pm shuttle....

What is the atmosphere like in town? Much going on or a bit deserted?
Compared to Friday it’s empty of course. However there’s quite a few around still and we usually find a back street pub and restaurant to chill in for the evening before heading back on the tram. Just noticed this thread and it makes great reading for a first timer to Le Mans with TD!
It’s my 40th in May so 8 of us are heading down in our cars with TD to stay at their Porsche Curves ‘Glamping’ site, it’s a first time for all of us but sounds like TD have got the setup just right.
We are staying over Sun night as our package doesn’t see us catching the ferry home until Mon so sounds like we have a few options for entertainment.
The comment about the bar etc. is this within the TD compound and purely for their guests then?
Sorry for the ‘noon’ questions but it’s all helpful stuff.
Cheers

Hi Si,
What ya driving? I'll keep an eye out.
I've done LM24 5x, 2x @ TDPC.
The PC set up is fantastic, clean, hot showers, a well run bar, great food, all at relatively acceptable prices (compared with the circuit), solid cup of tea etc.
So there is a marquee in one corner of the site with a massive TV screen set up with the race playing, as then bar for food and drink. PC is fenced and gated with security so it's very civilised. Mostly moderately well behaved Brits. It's the best way to be trackside that we have found so far.
The public sites get a bit rowdy by comparison, not unusual to find someone sh!tting behind a tent at 6am due to the toilets becoming a major health risk. Also on the Sunday (which is why I started the thread, as I have always left Sunday Eve), it's like a scene from a some post apocalyptic zombie movie with destroyed tents and litter blowing around while 'people with no fixed abode that may or may not be able to read your fortune' hang out of moving cars while they grab whatever they can.
It looks like we (8x) will soak up the post race melee, head into LM town for dinner, then back to the campsite for some beers and kip before an early departure enjoying the scenic route.

Sunday night @ TDPC was great in 2018.
The house band played most of the night, beer flowed well, and the whole place was rocking!
A great laugh and we would certainly stay Sunday night in future
edit to say, 2018 was the last time we went to LM24

Really looking forward to it and sounds like the TD people have the setup nailed, really useful to know that good/drink are both available within the compound. Is it worth stopping on route to pick up beer or is it comparatively priced?
Didn’t want to find myself in a situation where we hadn’t picked anything up on route and then found it was horrendously priced at the track!
Any pics from previous visits? Be good to see how it all looks!
Si
You absolutely want to pick up a load of stuff.
Beer can be tricky as for some odd reason, it's near impossible to buy ice in France. The marchés near the circuit get obliterated so we tend to stop a few hours north and try to load up on ice / beer / wine / food etc. We cook a few meals onsite and get some snacks etc. (Be prepared to only eat beige food for 4 days, tactical fibre suppliment highly recommend otherwise you may require a call out from Dyno-rod upon your return). The stuff inside the circuit is crazy expensive and pretty poor.
Nice Porker! I'll keep an eye out and say hi. Think we will be a Defender (to carry all the beer and ice), Fezza 355 993 and maybe a Caterham.

SiT, I may be wrong about this year but in 2019 when we last used glamping at PC with TD the glamping tents were over the road at Beausejour, it was still a secure section of that site, you had your own beer tent, toilets. showers just for the glampers so was much quieter but to get the to the PC bank you did have to walk through the Danes site at Beausejour, under the track to the main TD site. This may be irrelevant this year as TD may have moved glamping to the main site but just a heads up.
Nice car, two of us are coming overnight/early Thursday morning in a 992, have to work out if I can fit the tent, beer and BBQ in the back seats ;-)
