I think the clutch release is going on my TVR Chimaera and wondered if there was a local mechanic who wouldn't be scared of a TVR smile
The car drives but sometimes when you engage first or reverse there's a rather unpleasant sound, the first time this happened the gear wouldn't engage but it is doing now.

I am at Spay campsite and can get lifts to the circuit and not use it until the return journey and I have international breakdown cover if needed but if I could get it looked at here that would be better.

Thanks in advance!

Was going to suggest Provost Automobiles, 1 rountabout past the Autoroute on the way to St Saturnin who've help with a few 'flesh wounds' I've had with my cars at Le Mans...but they are closed until Monday.

Its the height of the French holidays, you can struggle to buy a baguette at this time of year, sometimes.

You could try Norauto just next to and north of Carrefour. Bit of a Halfords style set up but always been very helpful and knowledgable.

Does it make a noise when just pushing the clutch pedal down and not selecting a gear, if so then yes thrust bearing. If not it sounds a little more serious I’m afraid, reverse works off of first gear and thus could be a bearing on the second motion shaft or the revers e shaft. If only when selecting reverse it is most likely the reserve shaft bearing and would probably survive a return journey if you avoid reverse altogether

It doesn't make a noise until I move the gearstick, it can happen in any gear but doesn't always happen
One of the TVR gurus has suggested the clutch needs bleeding

Certainly sounds like a good starting point….I’m heading down Thursday and hit Le Mans on Friday so if you need anything brought down I can certainly try and assist

When we broke down in the summer a few years ago the AA took our ranger rover here. They were pretty good, even opening up on a Sunday for me to collect. Worth a call.

There’s a garage in Le Lude who are good with classics but it’s 25 miles or so for you. Little independent with lots of classics outside.
