LM COVID Testing there and back
Discussion
Right so I'm optimistically all booked up for me and my 15 year old son. I don't have any leave left with work that isn't already booked so I plan on going on Friday after work and coming back on Sunday night.
I've read and re-read the rules and I think I've got it straight but I wanted to get the consensus from the group to see if others agree.
My take on the rules assuming the post 19th of July rules remain the same in the UK and France are as follows.
If my son and I both take a fit to fly PCR test on Thursday (same day service) and both pass, then we are good to go out on Friday. Then my understanding is the same test would still be valid till midnight on Sunday to reenter the UK.

Have I got this right, I really can't be arsed trying to get tested on Saturday so we can get home on Sunday?
There is still the matter of getting into the track and the French and ACO rules but I'll take that one when they publish their next set of rules.

From my interpretation of the rules (assuming no changes) your logic is correct. The only potential fly in the ointment would be a delayed crossing back home - not sure where you stand if you end up getting back to the uk at 2 mins past midnight; technically Monday morning.
My group and I are planning a Tuesday/Wednesday PCR before a Thursday morning departure from the UK. We’ll then get a second PCR in France on Saturday morning, which should cover our Monday afternoon crossing back to the UK. PCR test no.3 will then need to happen on the Tuesday, the day after our arrival back.
All a massive pain, but worth it in our eyes.

Thanks for the thoughts and yes, a massive pain indeed.
The other question is the current ACO guidance seems to say you need to have a PCR test within 48 hours of the 'start of the event'. If so our Thursday test would be good for Saturday but it's unclear if it would also be good for Sunday. Such a pain in the backside but worth it if we do get there and into the race OK.

and how do you go about convincing anyone that it's an official test and OK?
I think the idea in either country is a test that has an official certificate, done in front of a recognised authority and the person in the test is the one who is being tested
Fine if you want to make sure yourself...

Although don't expect that the current rules will still be the same in a month's time...
The French app recognising the UK QR codes is the biggest help in getting Brits across the channel and into the circuit (and occurred after the show was recorded, I believe)
Agreed, it changes a lot, but for me it gave some good information. The French app recognising the UK QR codes is the biggest help in getting Brits across the channel and into the circuit (and occurred after the show was recorded, I believe)

On Last wednesdays episode of Midweek Motorsport on Radio Le Mans they explained all the covid rules going to Le Mans. If you scroll to minute 48 or so they will explain.
I just listened to that, rather confusing and wrong I thought! Both the UK travel advice and ACO state that you need either to have a vaccination certificate *or* a negative PCR test. MidWeek seemed to say that you needed both a vaccination certificate *and* a negative test. They were on about having to get another test if you left the circuit, which doesn't tally with what the ACO, the French or the UK travel advice says.

You can now download your vaccination cert on PDF using the NHS app (not the NHS Covid19 app!) and scan it into the TousAntiCovid app which then recognises it and gives you the health pass.
Fun and games...!
