New supermarket opens
Discussion
Most of you know that half way down the Mulsanne there is a McDonalds on one side and Family Village on the other. Behind Family Village is a new section which looks to have a new restaurant, a cheap electrical shop if you want a fridge for the week (often old model, not crap) and a new Auchan supermarket. Airy, plenty of choice, and you can even change the tills to English. We went there for the first time and were impressed.

Cool, hopefully see it this year....but doubt it with the way the kungflu is going.
Is l'arlequin still going? best place to buy bangers and fireworks
If you mean L'Arlequin fancy dress shop on the other side of the main drag, I have sad news. It closed about six months back, killed by lockdown. It is now a bakery. Is l'arlequin still going? best place to buy bangers and fireworks

It was 28/9/20 the two shops (one near Auchan north of the city) closed down. But, and a big but, perhaps these people might be able to help you out. I have no idea:-

Having something within walking distance of the campsite sounds ideal, but I guess there's no chance of getting near it any day there is track action.
I notice on Google Maps that there is again a supermarket open in the unit down the back streets of Arnage which has changed hands frequently since the SuperU opened at the top of town.

Good news for you here. On normal days at the McDonalds roundabout if you turn left (going down not up) there is a second roundabout at a few hundred yards. If you turn left there you are on the service road for all the units facing onto the Mulsanne and gives access during the race. A little roundabout at 200 yds and Family Village 1 is on your left and the new one on your right. It will be open during the race. I am not the most gifted on IT but if you have Google Earth try 47 56'36.95 N and 0 14.23.35 E and you'll see the Mulsanne, the first chicane, Family Village and where is now the new part I am talking about as just a building site on the right of the Village. It will be accessible by car at all times. HTH
Fond memories. We used to all meet up at the Auchan on the North side of Le Mans, in the same corner of the carpark, buy essentials and picnic on baguette, smelly cheese and very smelly garlic sausage. You realised you were there and that it was all starting.
It seemed to have the edge on Carrefour and SuperU, so another one is welcome
