I've just had an email from Travel Destination saying the 2021 Classic is being postponed until 2022. Thought I'd post on here in case people were booking holidays etc.

Message from ACO says first or second week July, to be confirmed in September.

Yep , I've just had an email announcing the postponement/cancellation of the Classic as well. I think the 24hr is looking more doubtful now with the increasing figures in France as I suspect the ACO will need to make commitment before mid-May at the latest.

Like lots of other people my LMC group have kept our 2020 tickets (purchased direct from ACO) to use this year. However now that it has been postponed until '22 some of the group would like a refund. Has anyone had any experience of obtaining refunds from ACO?

So, today I received an email stating that, under French law, we could either keep our tickets until next year or get a credit note!

So basically the same thing expect one will be worth less next year.

I’ll keep my twice-postponed tickets for the 2022 event but as I haven’t got a fully-flexible ferry ticket I’ll need to plump for either the first or second weekend in July to reschedule it for that. I emailed the ACO to ask why they couldn’t confirm which weekend and received the following:-

‘Regarding the schedule, please note that all dates will be officialised next September only. Not before.

We need to wait for the dates of the WEC championship (including the dates for the LE MANS 24 HOURS in June 2022) to determine the dates for LE MANS CLASSIC the first or second weekend of July 2022.

Please note that it will be the first or second week-end of July.’

So a pot-luck choice of ferry dates methinks!

Saw today that the decision on which July weekend the Classic will be run has been put back to some time in October. All booked for the 24hr, but need to get over for the Classic as well. Promised my lad a track lap, he's 16 in November so will be making his first trip to La Sarthe.

I brought mine along a couple of times, youngest one is more of the petrol head and couldn't come with me this year as he hadn't had both jabs. Next year he'll be back and as he's now over 25 think I'm going to let him follow me down in my XKR Silverstone to have the full on joy....thinking about it!

This is the best news this year if its correct! Never been up for the classic - too close to the 24hr, and only ever seems to be an exercise in getting cooked by the sun.

October would be fantastic. Its cooler, its a long way from the exhausting series of racing I usually do Apr - Jun, and next year is a prober crash thanks to 2 years of nothing, including 24 Moto, NW200, and TT Assen.

I'm going to sort out some accommodation

No, the race isn't going to be in October, it's going to be in July, which is what Vette_1978 said. Which date it will be, in July, will be announced in October:

"The 10th Le Mans Classic will take place in July 2022 (dates to be announced in October)."

It’s dark and cold in October especially in the mornings 6c.
Lots of us look back to the first running which was September which was a good compromise but they really want most daylight and reasonable temperatures overnight.
And the temporary stands are sill in place from the 24 hours

Has anybody seen their 2020 tickets on the ACO system lately? Looked about 3 weeks ago and couldn't track down Gen admission and some stand tickets. Also all the old telephone numbers seemed to have changed.

Classic open on Thursday (vaguely remember was proposed for 2020) - assume its just afternoon opening of paddocks etc but nothing on track so probably worth sticking to usual Thursday pm arrival at campsites?
