Probably seen already, so if so ignore, but a load of hassle seems to be involved

Hopefully there will be no noticeable change for spectator travel other than Green Cards being mandatory rather than just recommended.

Carnets for trailers seems to be a grey area which should see some clarity once people start travelling more (suggestions trailered but road registered cars will not need any paperwork).

Now this is strange. I spoke to my insurers here and they say that their insurance covers me driving to the UK and I don't need a green card. I don't think the French have ever needed one, nor other europeans. Why is it so? No doubt the PH massive will be able to tell me.

Not sure if anything has actually changed for 99% of people.

On a positive note, I'm sure I read that triggering speed cameras in France will no longer fill the Xmas party funds of Le Plod seeing as the UK reciprocation has ended. Still need to keep an eye out when entering villages on the N138 but not really worry about the stationary cameras near tunnels and bridges.

Breadvan has given us his wisdom on this in another thread. IIRC it is a matter of adopting the new situation to restore the status quo

Yes. We're not allowed out of the house. To go abroad, you now need a form, and a good reason, and tourism and amateur motorsport don't count.

At least the EHIC still works

That’s just for the lockdown. I would hope we are not still in lockdown by then!

Who would I expect to issue me a green card specifically for my trailer?

In Europe trailers over a certain size have their own V5. Will that happen in the UK?

UK commercial trailers now have a 'reg mark' if used to go abroad, usually a square plate with a single letter and a long number so presumably a certificate rather than a V5 as such
Not seen anything to say that caravans, small trailers will need the same..... Yet 🤔
500kg gross and above for France to need a reg and carte gris?

Totally in agreement. But, why is a green card needed? All European countries have automatically a green card which covers the UK. Why is the UK different?

Because they haggled till the last minute, there's a lot of small print to sort out. One of my insurances is a green card, but the crooks like to charge an extra £20 to send you an email.

Beware Green Cards don't have to be green, and if the bureaucrats didn't make life difficult, they wouldn't have a job with lots of expenses
