Ok so this is a bit of an odd request, but one of the thigs that always sticks in my head about le mans is going to sleep in the tent on racenight (yes I know, a lightweight!) with the sounds of the cars in the background.

Back in normal life I often struggle to sleep and end up listening to white noise, audii books, all sorts. Which got me wondering, is there any background noise from Le mans that I could listen to and get off to sleep?

I cant find anything online, most of the racing car sounds audio files are only quite short and get repetitive after a while.

thanks

You could find a replay of a previous race on YouTube, without any breaks or commentary. Then find a website (plenty around) and convert the video to an mp3.

You could try eating 1kg of bbq meat, cheese and french bread and drink several litres of kronnenburg to replicate the experience too.

The ACO put the race on YouTube without commentary in hour long tranches

The DVD is due out in the next few days too

Is this any use? Sorry I don’t have anything longer. Like you I loved going to sleep to the sound of the race!

Ooh toigh one.
You need the cars, plus the french guy who is excitable and says pugeoooooooooooot frequently. Also some Dutch techno, and (on a sunday) some.fireworks louder than the somme.

Closest i can think of is radio le mans player, plenty of podcasts too, e.g just chudk the 24h daytona, 12 sebring, etc and you have car noise combined with comms smile no french guy tho frown

Why stop there, go for the full Le Mans experience. Play several sound tracks over each other. One of some uncomfortably close fireworks detonating next to the tent, another of a car being revved within an inch of its life, another of drunken shouting, some eurotrash techno, some helicopters, emergency vehicles and then finally a bit of hum of the Le Mans cars.

The first timers last time wondered why I pack so many strong ear plugs. They were soon raiding my stash biggrin

At some point your body needs sleep and you'll just conk out.. I've fallen asleep at the side of the track.. But I may not be a good gauge.. I even fell asleep in pacha, ibiza, even with their incredibly loud sound system.

I saw some guy on my first trip to LM fast asleep with his head against some Armco during the race.
I’ve always taken loads of ear plugs & a decent pair of ear defenders to wear over the top....it doesn’t however stop the ground from shaking when a massive mortar firework goes off or the former RAF portable control tower is pumping out techno base at 2am hehe Any endurance race has the quiet moments when the safety cars are out in the middle of the night & suddenly the TV helicopter flys over.

For the full Bruno effect you need to shout excitedly when there's actually nothing happening, causing those watching whose attention has wandered to look up and spend the next 30 seconds trying to figure out WTFs going on, before realising it's just Bruno being Bruno

Ok, so I have a bit of an update....

I clicked on the link from giveitfish yesterday. Then looked in the comments. On there a commenter mentioned that he had four hours of Le Mans noise. I popped into his channel and asked him about it on another of his videos. He messaged me tonight to say he had still got it and would try to upload it. The upshot is here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v...

Top service! Looks like a result :-) Feel free to give him a subscribe if you are into his kind of stuff

A few years ago you could download sounds from the Le Mans web site. I've still got them somewhere. I used to listen to them on my headphones at work when I wanted some background noise to drown out the muggles.

don't stop there, place a sheet of plywood with a bum sized hole over your bath (half filled with wee and poo) and deny yourself use of human worthy facilities for the night
