Looks like another tradition has gone. The Autosport guide.
Picked up a copy last week and not a mention of Le Mans.
( unless their running it late in this Thursdays edition) Was always a good read whilst passing the time on the euro tunnel along with general fettling under the bonnet. It gave a good review of all the teams and drivers and their experience to date. Apart from GD’s excellent spotters guide, any ideas? Thanks.

Hopefully there will be something in this week's issue (Thurs). With no fans going across to France, no need to have it a week early.

Used to make a point of buying it every year but barely even bother to look at one now, even if it’s handed out as a free copy.

Sad when it was those guides I poured over as a young teen, wondering what it was like to go to Le Mans during the xj220 and McLaren F1 period.

For a dedicated Motorsport magazine I find it strangely lacking in depth. Pre internet, it was a vital source of info every Thursday, but hasn’t really seemed to evolve much.

It's still 80% F1, then National/Club and then possibly other stuff to fill in between the adverts.

A great shame though. They (Haymarket) used to have big jolly's to Le Mans... but only a special once a year.

I used to get Autosport and Motorsport News for the specials, but then they gobbled that up as well.

Motorsport should have some decent articles.

I haven't been able to find an issue of either though!! Feel like I need to get up to speed with the race this year. Hopefully RLM will bring me up-to-date - only managed the 1st of their podcasts.

Motorsport News has been sold off so it might improve in the future.

I thought the Autosport tradition was to put the Le Mans guide in the week-of-the-race issue...so released after all the race fans had already left the UK/out-of-date by the time they got home again post-race?

Sorry for the thread revival. Is there a new Autosport guide for this years race?

I thought I'd seen one, but there's no trace on the internet.

Strange, but Autosport must be going online like everything else

I think the Le Mans Guide is in this weeks edition (published Thursday) well that is what it said in last weeks magazine.

Traditionally this would come out with the June 8th copy of Autosport.

Traditionally it was always 2 Thursdays prior to the race. Its only the last couple of years its been the Thursday of race week. Sounds like it may have reverted to normal but finding a physical copy these days is a challenge!

2 Thursdays would be tomorrow so I’ll have a look then. If it’s 1 Thursday then that’s the day I travel so will have to drop into a shop on the way. I usually wait at the services just before the Eurotunnel for the rest of the convoy so I’ll check in there.

I've been going to Le Mans for 20yrs, down on either Wed/Thurs and have never seen one in the shops before departure, even the WH Smiths in the Eurotunnel terminal so not sure how long ago your "traditionally" was (though I gave up looking after a few years so maybe it was 'week before', then went '2 weeks before', then may or may not have changed back - a bit like the race "Starting at the traditional time of ", followed by anywhere between 2pm and 5pm!).

Definitely used to be 2 weeks before, I’ve been going for 20 years and always go for the full week, can only remember the one year when they got it wrong and bought it out in race week, too late for most people, haven’t looked for it post covid though.

Only 20 years...Newby then against my 40. Sorry but you were not been looking hard enough. It was always 2 weeks up until a few years ago. But i agree we can't go on "traditionally" as a guide...i missed the start of the race once!
