I think we all fear the same that with the current situation as it is, the likelihood of the 24 Heures Du Mans going ahead this year is unlikely, should this be the case, what were you most looking forward to and what will you miss?

Mine are as follows:

Looking forward to:
  • Trying a different campsite - we have stayed at TL for the previous seven visits and were looking forward to trying somewhere new as we didn't feel the campsite had the same atmosphere last year as previous visits, this combined with taking a caravan and an awning for the first time we don't really require the facilities that you pay additionally for over the normal ACO sites, we were looking at Houx and others in this area due to the location in relation to the circuit. This isn't supposed to sound negative towards TL as it is a great site in a great location and we wouldn't have been for seven years in a row if it wasn't any good it's just our situation has changed.
  • Finally making it to Mulsanne corner - in the 11 consecutive trips at I have made to Circuit de la Sarthe I still haven't made it to Mulsanne corner. We tend to venture out to Arnage and Indianapolis for the sun rise on Sunday morning and then back to the main area between Maison Blanche and Tertre Rouge.
  • Visit the museum - as with visiting Mulsanne corner, it is on my list every year to visit but still haven't.
  • Black Ops - I did this back in 2010 with a bunch of LMer's/PHer's that sadly I'm no longer in contact with, it was absolutely fantastic to be in the forest close to the kink heading into Indianapolis with the cars absolutely flat out only metres away.
  • Great British Welcome - we haven't been to this for around four years and was going to revisit this year as it’s a lovely event with a chilled atmosphere. In recent years we have been distracted by everything going on at the same time as this - there is just too much to do in one visit!
What will I miss most? It’s a difficult one as it is such a brilliant event, I suppose just being with your friends watching the greatest race in the world whilst enjoying a beer is probably the same reason for a lot of us.

My only worry is that we're all drinking more under lockdown, so Le Mans won't be any different to home.

Same as you, mulsanne corner and the museum were on my agenda this year, my 10th year, or would have been and haven’t done either.
Now it’s getting close to the original date I’m getting more pissed off that’s it’s been moved, can’t see it going ahead with spectators.

Getting over to Mulsanne corner is well worth it, and then walk down towards to Indianapolis as far as you can go. Can get quite close to the cars and really shows the difference between the classes.

Not sure I'd stay in a public campsite again though.

Not all of us...my wife doesn't drink; this is my great escape, where my biggest stress is working out what drink to have next.crydrinkconfused

To be honest arnarge is better than mulsanne, but we usually do both viewing sites on either wednesday or thursday evening and drive there. So much easier than trying to use the bus. Museum is a must every year, if it is hot a nice place to cool down in the air conditioned building, if it rains then a nice place to shelter, and also a very nice way to pass a few hours looking at cars i saw racing over the last 35 years.

It's also a great place for a dump - nice clean toilets in air conditioning. I often let go of a couple of days of steak and chips in there clap

This year is my 40th (age, not race)... was really looking forward to doing a couple of different things with my dad. We were going to mix up the usual routine to keep things fresh, very much enjoy the social aspect of the trip and perhaps less of the usual Friday activities and circuit time.

Thursday we were driving down to a place near Saumur. Nice hotel and some Michelin star dining. It’s not my dads usual cup of tea, but wanted to share experience. I love that sort of thing and he’d not do it without a bit of encouragement. Would have been a great evening.

Friday, we were going to look around the Musee Des Blindes (tank museum). We’d both love that. Head up to our village in the afternoon and get the 1664’s going. Located a great airbnb in the village, 2 bedroom flat all to ourselves and amazing value for money.

Sat and Sunday do the usual race activities.

Chill out in village on the Sunday night.

Head home Monday.

Of course, hoping for September going ahead as transferred all the bookings, but we will have to wait and see. Next nightmare is our limited options to get off our island, ferry company only doing fri-sun sailings now, but if things ease I’m hoping for more options.

If that toilet is the one opposite the shop next to the museum, it has turned into a smelly hell hole the last few years. Though I think there is a loo once inside the museum bit. Always worth a visit. So happy to see the McLaren F1 on display last year.

went to the museum in '17 free it was like an owen in there .... mulsanne has been changed this year... spectators further back always hassle with parking and the one way system they impose... we nearly ended in Tours coming back Arnage is better and they changed and expanded the viewing in '17
