Have to say I'm impressed with Silverstone - already had an email regarding ticket refund. Disappointed of course but not surprised.

Never liked the championship spread over two years.

It never made a lot of sense to me, one reason being the most likely championship for a new team to come from is the ELMS, if you're an ELMS team who's looking to step up your season finishes in October, are you going to be able or willing to wait until the next September to start another season in the WEC?

the biggest problem with the the split year season which was as highlighted by Roman Rusinov, was that the season cut across two financial years in the business world thus making it much harder for drivers to pitch for sponsorship. He is one of the hardest working guys in that area and he had to change to ELMS which has a annual season.

Also finishing season at Le Mans was a waste of time as championship completely overshadowed by Le Mans results.

On the other side of that coin is that the double points on offer at Le Mans can and did often negate the rest of the WEC Championship when it was the third race of eight or however many.

Let's be honest. For a non factory team there is but one reason to race in WEC over ELMS (in a 'normal' year) and that is the guaranteed Le Mans invite.
