amongst other things the ACO have announced 'A very welcome addition to the planned works is a two-phase programme of wholesale renovations for the circuits washrooms. The 5-700.000 Euro programme will see some facilities upgrade by 2021 with a further tranche completed by 2023'

If this includes doing away with the open air pissoir behind the start finish straight it'll be an outrage and a crime against history

Shocking.

How else will we time keep the race if not by the pish moat?

Normal pish = Thursday
Keeping distance = Sat midnight
Blue Sud = 3pm Sunday

I thought the old pissoir was demolished about 5 years ago, when they stopped the Jaguar stand bogs leaking into the tunnel.

In the 21st century, the facilities near the stands can only be described as dreadful. At least the men can go against the wall.

The old bogs are reminder of how bad things really were and hence in the ‘80’s you found very few women and children at the race. The old village, in my option, had far more atmosphere with more bars, oompah band tent, food poisoning on every corner....but my god the toilets were a danger to the human race and would probably have killed the Coronavirus.

I'm not happy about using the concrete fences, but what can you do when the bog queues as so long BTW the old pissoir was good enough for Steve McQueen

There are plans to build more bogs in 2021, and 2023

Couldn’t agree more. As a child my family used to holiday quite extensively across France and Italy in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s...quite a learning curve as a youngsters and great fun....but to the point, whenever we saw somebody pissing on the side of the road my mother would suggest they were admiring the view and we should what is was on each occasion that was so interesting

Can recall camping in Houx Anex 1983, my first Le Mans, 3 x wooden sheds with a hole that you did your business in.

Wasn't until Sunday night that they came around to suck up the sh-t.

What an experience, will never forget it and we still laugh about today, but heh its Le Mans, ever year has got better and dare I say it, it's all part of the Le Mans experience that keeps calling us back year after year..

Camped on Jon Della's field down by Porsche Curves and the Arnage cross road junction many years ago. It was cheap and the facilities comprised of a couple of open air flushing loos in the corner of the field and a converted horse box with a couple of showers. They were gas powered and ranged from bloody freezing, bloody hot and so bloody hot you couldn't tell if was hot or cold ! We did get an invite for a barbe at his place, the old "White House", great times !!
Best loo back then ( early 90's ) was the one in the museum, airconditioned and loo roll provided !
