Which campsite do I choose?
Discussion
I still haven't got that all elusive ticket and I'm a bit boggled by all these campsites.
I've got a plan of the circuit so I know where they all are, and I'm not afraid of a walk so I don't want to factor that in too much.
So which site do I pick?
Do you regularly visit a campsite and why?
Forget money, lets work on principal here.
Do you choose because its close to the track, got good facilities, is nice and flat, got numbered plots, doesn't usually flood if it does rain (I was there for THE rainy weekend - 2000?), is full of party animals or conversely isn't full of noisy buggers.
I'll see you there in just 2 weeks ! :driving:

Ask 20 people and I'll bet you get 20 answers.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ON-SITE campsites. You'll have fun.
Beausejour is a little further away than the rest.
Bleu and Blanche are more or less similar (and that's where I've always been). Bleu usually has very clean toilets, which can be important if you go with any of the female persuation.
You say you've got a map, so any of the ones around the circuit will work. This is much better than getting a campsite off-site, which means traffic jams and breathalyzers

I have been in Houx and Houx Annexe, Bleu and Parking Blue all that have been ok and close to the track. Houx being the best facility wise. Parking bleu was a last minute blag as we went without camping tickets... in fact we blagged our way into camping bleu too That was the wet year 2000 and it did flood a bit in there
Maison Blanche is meant to pretty good too, with a lot of Phers going in there.

Thanks Charles. Nice car BTW, always loved the Pantera and its the only car with a wing I like!
Do you know anything about Technoparc or Bleu Sud?
I'm watching tickets for both these on ebay at the min.

Thanks! I've been in Bleu Sud for the past 4-5 years and will be there this year. (So I, too, am watching that one on e-bay although I may have found one elsewhere). So I can tell you the advantages to being there...
a) Right next to the track. 3 minute walk.
b) The road between Bleu and Blanche is highly entertaining. "burnout alley". Where else can you see Lambos, Ferraris, TVR, (and the occasional Pantera) doing big burnouts?
c) Easy access to the town of Arnage. There are a few restaurants, cafes, and so forth there. Last year we had dinner outside while watching a Pagoni Zonda trying to parallel park. There are also a few grocery stores here.
d) Clean restrooms. May seem silly on a weekend like Le Mans, but if you go with "the other half" this makes it do-able.
People tend to be loyal to "their" campsite... it's where I have always been and I have a great time... If you do end up in Bleu, you'll see my Pantera there. Stop by and say "hi"!
Ballistic,
I think we were next to you in Houx Annexe last year? Nice Griff i seem to recall.
We had the Porsche, 2 Lotuses, TVR Chim and the Volvo XC70.
I'd defo recommend Houx Annexe though, we're staying there again this year, got some virgins with us.............

Have stayed in Houx , Houx Annex , Blue, karting and Beasjour. All are enjoyable. BJ is quieter, further to walk - and a very long trek to tetra rouge, but spaces normally available later in the week.
I don't remember you walking much fella - wasn't more of a stagger.....
Whilst on the subject, which camp sites have shower and washing facilities? If you end up in one that has none (I was in Parking Aerodrome last year) can you use the facilities in another camp site?
What are the facilities like? I would imagine they’re pretty rank by Sunday afternoon or are they cleaned over the weekend?
Since I’m going for 4 nights this year instead of 2 I would like to have a shave and shower at some point!

Guys,
I've used Technopark/Parking Rouge/North of the aerodrome the last couple of years.
The 'ablutions' are pretty basic, no showers, although the Danish car club (can't remember name) dooes pitch up a f*****g huge artic' trailer kitted out as showers which you can use for 2 euro a throw. The toilets are cleaned twice a day.
If you want grass to pitch on you need to get down there early - else its pitch your tent on sandy/shingle/gravel (pack a lump hammer and steel pegs!)
However, it is only about 10 mins to walk to the main entrance for the start/finish and another 15 mins to Terte Rouge and the curves before that corner. Plus it usually has a couple of mobile bar/hot food outlets - usually has a good firework display Sunday night and seems to be the main car park for people just coming for 1 day/the race -so you can see some interesting cars.
Having said all that, it is nice to have a shower or two! So you takes your choice!

I've just agreed to buy a ticket for Houx.
We're around 150 yards into Houx on the left-hand side, should be easy enough to spot with the flag pole length competition we seem to be having!
