Le Mans bike rentals
Discussion
I'm a first-timer for the Le Mans 24H; I'll be arriving in Le Mans on Friday the 7th, and I'm thinking about renting a bike to take a tour of the circuit. I tried to contact Velo-Setram to see how they felt about renting bikes to foreigners (their website only mentioned prices for people from within the Le Mans metropole, which I definitely am not), but never got a reply. Has anybody had any experience with doing this? Velo-Setram is also closed on Sunday, which seems odd since that would seem like the most popular day for bike rentals. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have not seen any bike rentals near the track, not sure if any in the city.
You could always do what I did last year.....
Brought a folding bike from Argos, used it for the week and then returned it as it was crap, got me about for the week though!
I just buy folding bikes on ebay, they're brilliant. 20" wheels are the most common and best all round, but if you're short on car space get a 16" wheel folding bike You could always do what I did last year.....

Forgot to mention: I'm coming from California with one carry-on bag and a backpack; so I have to rent or buy (?) in Le Mans. I've looked at sources in the city, but hadn't considered that there might be bike rental agents around the circuit. Thanks for that input.
Buy a 16" wheel folding bike, and get a carry bag and put it in the hold. 2nd hand over here is $100...bike hire could end up more with no guarantees. We take the folding bikes everywhere, including on the plane Failing a rental, this is available to buy on the Mulsanne straight and you can take it back with you.

That's a good deal, I like that.https://www.decathlon.fr/velo-pliant-tilt-100-noir...
If our friend can get a US 2nd hand bike it should be half the price, all of mine have been no more than £55, all bar one are virtually brand new.

What day do you plan to do this? I have spare bikes if I’m in the area
If it’s just to ride the circuit it
Sorry for the delay responding. I leave tomorrow afternoon (Thursday) from San Francisco, should be in Le Mans by mid to late afternoon Friday. I had hoped to buy something cheap and leave it behind when I go. Let me know what your situation is via email (shamrock@sonic.net) if you can. If it’s just to ride the circuit it
Failing a loan or rental, the cheapest is still Decathlon at €129.

I looked in the for sale ads and they are asking €90 minimum for used ones so not woth the hassle.

Most will already know this but should anyone be thinking they don't have room, remove the wheels, handlebars and saddle and a normal bike takes up a surprisingly small amount of space.
I have an irrational aversion to anything hanging off my car but managed to get camping gear and two full size mountain bikes in the back of an E-Class Coupé last year!
