Cheers for that - just wanted to see what competition the DBR9's had...
Not much if Silverstone was anything to go by! The only cars that were near the Aston's pace were the Maseratis (not allowed at Le Mans) and the Carsport Corvette. A couple of the Ferraris were quick at the start but soon dropped away.
I know it's predictable, but if Prodrive keep up this pace and reliability, it's looking good for the green machines!

I know, I was there too - fantastic performane by the team - only the Masser's were close and they've been kicked out of Le Mans
Bob the Planner said:I don't think the driving line-ups have to be fixed until the test weekend (first weekend in June). Even then I think they can change. I believe drivers must have completed Le Mans before or X hours (or laps) of the circuit on the test weekend. There is also something about completing at least three laps in daylight and three at night in the qualifying on the race weekend.
Is there a driver list as well ?
Don't jump to conclusions just yet as the C6-R Corvette will be at Le Mans, Pratt & Miller the deffending champions. If I remember rightly at Sebring both Corvettes out qualified the Astons & held a 1-2 race order until night fall when the leading corvette was taken out by a back marker shortly followed by the second place corvette suffering a brake rotor failour. This handed the lead to the Astons, but interestingly both Corvettes were back in the fray & one managed to climb back to 3rd in class.
One should remember that both incidents were unlucky, Pratt & Miller are an American out-fit comparable to Pro Drive (they have beaten the Pro Drive 550's at Le Mans before as well as in the ALMS). Also it pays to remember that Le Mans is a 24 hour race (Sebring was only 12 hours & Silverstone by comparison was a sprint race)!

Well said 97BlackC5
It will be a very interesting race this year as there will be genuine competition between the Prodrive Astons and the Pratt & Miller Corvettes. If the racing is as close as the competition between the Prodrive Ferraris and the P&M Corvettes in 2003 then it will be brilliant.
It is a great shame the Maseratis are banned as I would rather see 4 Maseratis and 4 less Porsches.

Sorry if I've missed this but what is the story on the Mazza's no show?
Was the Lambo Murc supposed to participate?
VHR - You make an excellent point, a few less Porkers wouldn't even be noticed while the Mazza's or others would create much more impact.
I'm afraid it's got to be said: as each year goes past, the ACO and LM gendarmes' collective heads are getting further and further up their own @sses.

The ACO considers the Maseratis currently to be in breach of the rules and have requested changes before they can run. These will not be in place until next year when we should expect to see a few turn out.
Whatever the truth of the matter (and they`re certainly bending the spirit of the rules) the Maser` remains a sexy bit of kit so I hope they reach a decent compromise.

As far as I was aware the Murcielago R-GT's run by Kohn-Barbour Racing a few years ago in the ALMS (I think they appeared at Le Mans one year aswell) were pulled by Kohn-Barbour as they apparently did not receive the backing from the factory they thought they were origionally promised, which was a shame as IMHO they deffinetaly looked the part.
Re the Mazza's, I believe they have been excluded from Le Mans because the are too long & therefore do not comply with the ACO rule book for GT1. The reason they can still race in the ALMS is because although the ALMS uses the ACO rule book, the American race series is goverened by IMSA so with the ACO's blessing IMSA have allowed the Mazza's to race but they are not allowed to score points until the fully comply with the ACO regulations. BTW there was talk of compliance sometime this year but obviously shortening the tail of the Mazza would have a considerable effect on down force/handleing etc.
