Hi all

Done quite a bit of research before i decided to start a new thread. Most of the posts ive found are from a few years ago and looking for some up to date feedback from people who stayed last year on Travel Destinations at Porsche Curves and also Lycian Village. I know Lycian is a PH'er.

My main concerns are; security. Heard lots of stories of things getting stolen, Lairy behaviour and idiots in general.
Looking for a fairly quiet, safe place to stay.

Apologies again for starting a new thread, but couldn't find much on these from last year.

Thanks

My two sons and I have stayed on TD at Porsche Curves for the last four years

Very secure, a great team of staff, good facilities and of course the dedicated viewing bank

It was a bit crowded this year as TD managed to squeeze more people on than previous years.

I can’t really remember any antisocial behaviour - a few campers playing music until the early hours, but we didn’t really go for the peace & quiet....

TD are not cheap, but are well recommended

I’ve used Travel Destinations at Porsche Curves for the last 3 years. It is excellent. Great staff, nice bar and food. Very safe, warm showers and clean toilets. The viewing is great, but take a chair. Easy base to move around the whole track. No idiots or loud music. In summary, camping with the luxury of the marquee as backup.

Stayed at Lycian last year. Zero trouble, high security...very good just too organised for me so went onto somewhere away from it all this year.

Lycian will give you zero problems. Very organised, well run.

Security at Lycian events was great in 2018. They are closely linked with the Porsche UK owners club and must have had 90% of the UK registered GT3’s parked on their campsite and car park and not a problem that I am aware of. Showers and toilets cleaner than some hotels. Food and drink excellent and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

We used TD a few years ago - really good, great position to sit on the banks at 5am and watch the cars come by.

Fellow campers were good fun and not too manic - a bit of a slog up to the main straight and the tram stop, but the rasta man and his trolley/tram was good fun if a bit crowded.

My only slight point to mention is that they do pack you in a bit, we got squeezed into a corner by a tree and it was nigh on impossible to get the cars out - so we didnt and drank beer.

We would use them again. have used Speed Chills for last couple of trips and they are great too (although not at the 2019 one).

If staying off site, we had a great classic with Le Mob

Me and a couple of friends are about to book with TD for Porsche Curves, it'll be my first visit and I'm looking forward to it.

I'll be taking my VW T6 sleeper with drive-away awning, so should get some decent sleep after a few too many beers.

Is there still an issue with taking a van full of booze?

I have been going to Le Mans with Lycian ever since they started.

Its a great site, very secure, excellent facilities and they improve it every year (e.g. 0bike hire available now )

highly recommended

Sounds good, I assume the two companies share the facilities between them?

So long as there's no idiots playing music at 3 in the morning, there's bacon rolls and the toilets/showers are good then I'll be happy.

They're on different sides of the track, I reckon the view would be better from the TD side

There will be no issues with taking beer into the TD site. Great set up and there’s a lack of idiots.

Something worth bearing in mind - I heard the TD site at Porsche Curves is being run by a different sub-contractor (think they were called ETC events before and TD just sold the tickets) as the existing one has had enough of running it. So standards may be different to previous years as its the staff that made that site so good!

Interesting. We're already booked with TD, so hopefully it does live up to expectations!

I stayed at TDPC this year for second time (having stayed at speed chills for 10+ years prior) ... thought it was still great although was quite 'efficiently packed in' ... 7x5 the pitches were not!

any updated thoughts from those who stayed either side of the track this year?

and any colour on 1st tickets now being RLM travel partner rather than TD? is it all change in this market?

Yeah I’m curious why RLM and TD stopped working together and they switched to 1st Tickets.

Stayed with Lycian for last 3 full capacity Le Mans and 2018 LM Classic and site very secure and well laid out. Parked car across front of pitch and tent at back with decent space in the middle (so 7x5). Extra parking spaces (reserved for each car) also available. Not a bad selection of motors in there. Pre erected tents and glamping tents to all well spaced if want those. Think they are a sponsor for CBW at St Saturnin.

Great people and having a bar in marquee (£'s taken or account and British beers) and having beer garden/outdoor eating area right next to track is huge plus as no need to go to main circuit area/village all the time. Pretty good eating breakfast by track and also good for support races and Thursday night practice etc. Can also see cars from marquee. Didn't stay up past 5am this year but bar open then and can take beer up on Porsche curves. Think the cleaners for showers and toilets work 24 hour too as hjave seen them there 5 and 6am.

2 mins from secure gate and your on Porsche curves with great view of cars coming up from Arnage and just lifting a bit before curves - can easily see over fencing as cars on far (outside of track) line. Mini buses to circuit free (best to pre-book) and we had an excellent trip to Indianoplis and Arnage from 12.30am to 2.30am during race at small charge per person.

Back there Thursday and 2023 hopefully.

Stayed with TD this year but fancy trying something different for 2023. The banking/view that TD have is a great selling point, does anyone have any details on the viewing from the Lycian side? I walked the circuit this year and had a peek at the Lycian Marquee area from the track, I assume when you want to watch the race you sit on the Beausejour banking beside the Lycian site? Anyone have any pictures from that side? Otherwise it might be TD once again (which is no way a bad thing, just feel like a change)
