On average how big are the sites for setting up tents? Is a frame 4 man tent too big basically?

Depends when you get there - after friday you might have a problem depending on which site you're in.

It really does depend on when you arrive, as indicated. There are no reserved sites - you basically arrive and claim your territory. If there is enough room to put up a monster tent, you do so. If there isn't, well, there isn't room for your tent.

Personal opinion is that if you arrive on Friday you may have difficulty finding prime real estate.

Unless you are on Houx where there are numbered pitches. A 4 man frame tent and a car should fit on a Houx pitch without too much trouble.

....and if you're really lucky a tree in your pitch as well!!! I got a huge 9 man tent on a Houx pitch last year even with a tree (we amused the neighbours trying to get it on there, but that may have been more to do with me not knowing which was the front of the tent!) BUT we couldn't get the tent and the car on - we had to "acquire" a car space!

Aren't Speed Chills on BSJ? Presumably it's open house unless they've done a deal for allocated spaces?

The Yorkshire PH group are on Houx, I think we have a block of pitches. The idea being to use some pitches as a car park, then a large central communal area with the gazebos, BBQ's, relaxing area etc. Seperate area for tents & sleeping.

Booked through speedchills too, wasn't aware of any arrangement at BJ??? Also arriving friday mid-afternoon, one (KICK ASS) car - 2 fourman tents.

If anyone here gets there earlyish and strategically spaces out a few of their cars for our meager group to fill, we would recipricate with much beer and merryment!

Plus you get my car to join your ranks. Spruce up the place a bit!!!

correct, Speed Chills are next to BJ. its reserve what you need - the locals will try to direct you, and tell you how much space you need.. give them the relevant couresty, saying you got mates arriving following day! we're there from thursday onwards.See ya there!
