That's mad:
"a sentence of up to two years, a fine of 30,000 Euros and seizure of the vehicle and device for using any radar detecting device, this can even apply to vehicles with such devices installed but switched off."

I wonder what happens if you have a cradle installed but leave the other bit in the UK. i.e. the Origin Blue comes with a cradle and the readout module. I have this set-up it's not exactly easy to remove the cradle as it's hardwired in. I can't even hide that easily it's on the dash at the moment.

Dunno but I always remove all evidence of my laser detector and road angel before I head over to france - even wipe down the windscreen to take off the suction marks. I would rather avoid the hassle of them going over the car with a fine toothcomb for the sake of 5 minutes preparation.

Me, Bro and a mate were driving down to the Alps a couple of years ago in the Golf I had then (ie., nothing obvious or stand-outish), went thro a peage toll booth, and Gendarme standing there "plodding" about....suddenly pulled us over to his police station parking lot and went to town....we cr4pped ourselves, couldnt think what we'd done wrong apart from a few (!!) mph over the limit..."maybe theyve timed us?"...nope, they'd seen the RoadAngel cradle suctioned to the screen. We knew it was illegal to use one, so had stashed it in the glove-box before leaving Blighty, but he went all over the car, then found it. We managed to persuade him it was a GPS navigation device (ie, he didn't see any IR window on it, so believed us)...stern look and then dismissed.

Apparently, my mate told me afterwards, they usually put it under your front wheels and make you drive over it....it was only 2 weeks old at the time!

Tell you what, I also polished windscreen to remove any traces of suckers, you don't mess with these boys...

Good idea, mobile phone holder maybe possible or I might just clip some road / travel notes on it. Fingers crossed...

Yes, do not mess around with 'le flic'.

I once had them hide a gun in my car for a laugh (at the chunnel).

Luckily I had seen that one of them had an empty holster, but even so....

The article refers to Radar detectors. Does anyone know the score with regard to having a Laser Diffuser when driving in France?

Same deal, just as illegal and just as likely to land you in trouble
