Flying to LeMans 2005
Discussion
Hi eveyone.
OK I will be flying down again this year.
Faily certain that my plane will be filled already by my regulars, but while im hear id thought Id check to see if there are any intrested people that want to go via a plane this year. All costs will be on a cost share basis ie we all pay the same.

Just a thought, but I was wondering if any of the PH aviation fraternity was planning on flying into the circuit on the Sunday, maybe to pick up self loading freight to take them back to blighty???
The reason I ask is that my other half is joining me in France on the Sunday for fun and frolics in Normandy during the following week, Eurostar want about £150 for the privilege and I'm just investigating all the alternative ways of getting her to the circuit so she can drive the car.
Cheers
Dave

Well depending on the car it might be better strapping the plane to it for take off :-)
Costs if anyone is intrested (im going on what it cost the last 2 years that ive flown) have been about £200-£250 each, thats to get there and back and to pay your share of the landing fee, which is around £100.
As I think my plane would be full, and if people do want to go this route ill ask some more than willing commerical pilots that joined me there last year to fly again this year. As one has a normal day job he would likley do leave sat and return sun but it would all depend on what people want.
EDIT while I remeber, camping shouldnt be a problem as that will be sorted as well, also there is a little taxi/shuttle service between the airfield to race track that takes about 4 mins (They drive inside the airfield so no traffic) costs something like 15 euros for 10 trips or 5 returns.

Im sure I will be going sat and return either sun or mon.
My other pilot chaps as they havnt yet filled a plane would go with what everyone else wants which id suspect would be arrive sat and return sun.
Ive always been about 2 to 3 hours before the race so giving time to put up tent, get ticket, and pax to get well on the way to being bladdered before the race start.
Departure, as soon as the race finished we scramble back to the airfield and normaly are on the way within an hour of the race finishing.
