Beausejour - advice?
Discussion
I am looking at camping in Beausejour (with Speedchills) but it looks like a good 30 minute hike to the Dunlop bridge. Anyone have experience of this last year - how far is it?
Also, how good is the race viewing from near the campsite, should I wish to have a look at what is making all the noise?

It is a fair old walk, and if its busy (like at the race start/finish) perhaps might take longer than half an hour.
We walk from Houx, past the main entrance and down to the Porsche curves on our way to Indy and Arnage and it was certainly a fair old whack.

That site gives a fairly succinct list of the campsites and it definitely helped me to choose one!

Thanks for the replies. I have been going for 10+ years so know the merits of most of the campsites, but have usually done it in a convoy of saloon cars and minibuses, where we take the kitchen sink.
This year like, last year, we are all going in 2 seaters, which means we are looking for someone else to provide cold beers and barbies trackside.
Speedchills offer this, but the site is a long trek from the village - did anyone go last year who could comment?
More specifically, are there any other trackside clubs who could keep our bellies full if we made our own arrangements for travel etc.

We were there year before last, not a bad site, I am still a LM virgin but done Karting Nord in the past so yes, it was a LOT further away from the funfair etc.
There was a free bus running to and fro but service was a bit patchy.
Site was quite good, not bad loos and a burger bar or two in the first few metres of the site so that was good also.
I would go for it, I am thinking of doing it this year purely for the Speedfreaks thing as I have no room for beer or food in the car !

Steve,
we were there with Speed Chills last year and have already booked up with them for this year too.
Beasujour is ok, suited the needs of our group - Porshe Curves are adjacent, and as said above, Arnage is walkable. there is a bus that runs, but otherwise its a 30min walk to the pits. Can take longer - esp if stopping off at the Danes beer tent on the way...
Biggest reason for us going are the friendly staff at Speed Chills offering good food and cold beer - all at acceptable prices too.
traditionally a quieter campsite, but thats gradually changing.....
Neil.

I was in Beausejour last year. Nice clean site, with half decent wash and food facilities, but yes a long walk.
But... every 15mins there is a curtacy bus which runs from the campsite entrance to Expo. Then you can get to the village from inside the circuit opposite Maison Blanche grandstand and almost at the pit entrance. This is also at the bottom entrance to Le Houx.
Hope this helps.
We are at Houx Annexe with the Prawn boys this year.

Many thanks for the replies. Looks like another new way to do it this year and might be a way of seeing more racing (esp. from Arnage). Our car watching has dropped off lately, and we are averaging <2hrs per annum, so laziness might keep us trackside.
Alternatively, laziness and drunkeness might mean we forget how to get back to the campsite and we spend a night slumped in the village, having tried all the rides, seen the wall of death for the umpteenth time and marvelled at our prowess with a shotgun once more.

As everyone mentioned it is a bit of a way to village/dunlop etc, best off making an afternoon of it if you're going there. We walked from beausejour through the middle up to tetre rouge last year and that seemed to take ages, though it was probably only half an hour- forty mins really. It's pretty handy having porsche curves only about 5 mins walk away though, plus as people have said mulsanne is closer – I think if you ask the speedchills lot nicely they might even run you down there in the landie if anyone is free to do that.
I was there with Neilsie and the S2000 gang. Good toilets and showers - even warm ones. Reasonable amount of room too. Speed Chills a bonus too. Porsche curves very near - and to be quite honest the distance to the track isnt a problem unless you have some great need to keep going back and forth every hour.

I remember you lot, you were just the other side of the access road from us, the was a dutch bloke in a white camper van next to us and right on the access road used to shake his fists at you as you power slide your cars off the grass and onto the dusty road.
