Have done Houx Annexe (good if the pitch is good), Maison Blanche (great but cramped) and Bleu (awful toilets) to date. What is Tetre Rouge like in terms of atmosphere, location etc? Any others to consider? We are looking for atmosphere, reasonable facilities and easy walking distance to the village etc.

Thanks.

We've been at Tetre Rouge for the last 2 years and are waiting to hear having requested it again for next year. We've never camped any where else so can't really compare but obviously we're quite happy camping there. I think it probably depends on when you are planning to arrive as there are places I wouldn't want to be. I wouldn't personally want to be at the Fairground end or up against the wall next to the motorway because of the noise but plenty of people seem perfectly happy there. The showers & toilets are fine, a bit of a wait in the morning but I'm sure that's the same everywhere.
The ground is a bit rough in places and there was some broken glass on our pitch left over from camping at the moto GP which we had to pick up before pitching.
The big advantage is that you can get a pitch with a view of the track if you get there early enough and it's very close to the fairground, village, viewing areas at the Esses and Tetre Rouge and the Mulsanne and Tetre Rouge bars on mad Friday.
We arrived on Thursday afternoon last year, Wednesday this year and will be there on Tuesday next year, counting the days already

Our first year was in Houx, this year we were in Tertre Rouge and will be again in 05.

It's a real bugger to find the first time, but the showers and loos were clean, in fact judging by the bleach marks on my troos a bit too clean!
Friendly natives, 5 mins from Carrefour and superb access to the village, great viewing position at night by the T/R grandstand and track is visible from the site: (see just above Richie's left knee)

The only thing you don't want to do is what we did and pitch next to the "FLYYYYING MACHEEEEEEENE!" Talk about noisy! Our conversations were drowned out by our radio which was drowned out by our Genny which was drowned out by the "FLYYYYYYYYING MACHEEEEEENE" which was drowned out by the cars which were drowned out by the helicopters flying overhead! As long as you drank a fair bit and used earplugs and sign language you were ok but I think we'll forgo the closeness to the village this time for a nice walk and a bit of peace and quiet (relatively speaking). Excellent site though.

Tetra rouge is suoperb IMHO.

have done Houx, Bleu and Masion blanche with TR being the best to date!

showers are superb, limited spaces there so it don't get too full up. well cleaned and looked after.

piece of piss to get to town as well as you don't have the aggro og oign along side thee main complex like for the others. excellent viewing as well and clsoe to the fair, main village and dunlop bridge.
easy to get on the mulsanne as well as going round to arngae too.
would not go anywhere else I thnk and good bucnh of people there.

agreed with fish though as that machine was a pain in the ass!!
