On my 5th camping visit to LM next year, my group may try out the 'camping Houx' site which I'm told has Showers (!)and numbered pitches. This could be useful as the Thursday afternoon arrival in LM 2004 was barely early enough to find a decent space to pitch up. Can anyone tell me if they found the numbered pitches large enough for car ,tent (and bbq space) and did the showers actually work!?

showers are good and clean. Pitches good size and plenty for car and decent sized tent. Only downside is there are a number of pitches with a sodding great big tree(s) on them in which case they arent big enough

We ended up with one of those last year but as we were camping with a group of 8 of us it wasnt a problem that we spilled over into the next pitch.

Also a bar/cafe on Houx, which is nice (although pricey for a 1/2 beer but great when you first arrive and just want one as you pitch the tent before getting down the supermarket)

Houx is a great campsite. My personal fave.

We've been there the last two years now and will be booking there for next year too.

Showers are pretty good, one euro per time (although you could get away with less!) only problem is the half an hour queues in the morning - better to go at night or in the middle of the day. The water is hot but the cubicles are very cramped, so best to go in shorts and some shoes that are OK to get wet, as with the throughout of people the floor will always be damp.

Ground can be a bit rough, so a peg hammer can be essential.

As has been said, unless you have to compete with nature the pitches are a good size, scan over it first as we found bottle tops, bottles and some nails on ours!

Only downside is that it is very dusty, so bring a bucket and sponge to clean the car before you leave...

although I normally dont bother until I get home, this year we went "on tour" down south of france and andorra after Le Mans so thought it wise when I watched you get out the entire cleaning shelf from Halfords

After last year when my S was fifthy on the way home I hearnt a lession and took something with a boot large enough to hold a bucket

Next year I'll be taking something else with a larger boot too, but not made in Spain

Many thanks all for the info. Shower & small bar sounds good
It looks from the picture that there is some grass, in between the dustbowl! Here's hoping for a dry & sunny weekend (prefer dust than Mud! )

here you go mate, another pic I took - you will notice there is tree cover in Houx, unlike any other site I have seen next to the track.

I've sent in the ACO form and on it I've put for Houx or Houx annexe... Is it now a wait and see or is it possible to book/confirm this some other way?

AFAIK no-one can confirm properly until allocations are released. Some ticket providers will sell them now based on the hope they will get the allocations they want, but the TVRCC made the decision not to sell anything until they know their exact allocation.

shnozz - Thanks for the picture. Looks like the trees survived the usual Friday night Fireworks that I've seen & heard at the other campsites!

Mikes3 -Our group usually books through MRI (For less hassle)as a package, and theirpaperwork & maps seem to say only the Houx (not annexe) is the Numbered pitch site.
