Have just heard from the ACO that the dates may have to be changed from the 11/12 June to the 18/19 June, but these dates are as yet also unconfirmed as they are awaiting International Board Approval. They only heard last night. We await further news.

Thanks for that, just nipped in and booked the Novotel just round the corner from the ciruit for €97 a night for that weekend!! Will be nice to have a real pool for £60 a night.

Fingers crossed then.....

Phew, thankfully not booked crossing tickets yesterday - they'd fleece us another £30 for making the change!

Any idea when the dates will be confirmed?

No idea yet I'm afraid - they said "the fall".

I thought the race was always the weekend before the summer solstice which would make it the 18/19 (which was what I was planning on before I was told I was wrong).

The word on the street is that the earliest the date will be confirmed is November however it may not be confirmed until January.

DailySportscar.com are quoting "an ACO Official" saying the dates is going to be the 18th/19th June with the test day on the 5th June.

It's all to do with the American teams. They were upset about the expense of having to come over twice, first for the test weekend in April and then the main race in June. By having the test weekend and actual race only two weeks apart they will just come over the once and stay during the gap!

To pick you up slightly on that Guy what DSC actually says is that it is likely that this will be the date but that it is as yet unconfirmed as there are still some outstanding factors that may alter things.

Guy was correct in what he says.

The ACO confirmed during the Spa race yesterday that the dates have changed.

Just a thought, but maybe the 50th anniversary of this event may have had something to do with it too... http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/11/newsid_3726000/3726535.stm

Lets get this in propsective, I talked with the ACO man and the DSC man at Spa last weekend. The official word from the ACO is the date will not be confirmed until January they have NOT confirmed if the date will or may change! But they have confirmed its June!

Nope, Guy says that DSC say that it will be changed, the DSC article that he refers to actually says:

2005 Le Mans Dates “Unconfirmed”
A senior ACO source today confirmed to dsc that the option of separating the Le Mans Test Days and the 24 Hours by just a two week interval in 2005 was very much under consideration - but was not yet confirmed..."

To quote www.dailysportscar.net

It's now official: Le Mans Test Day June 5, Le Mans 24 Hours June 18/19, 2005. News brought to you from an ACO official.
