Supermarket en route

Does anyone know of a supermarket en route between Rouen and Le Mans that is on / close to the new autoroute (a28) ? Wanted to stock up before arricval this year to save trecking out again.

Why on earth would you think of asking that, there are hundreds of supermarkets in France and they are usually advertised at the road side with directions....

There's a convenient Intermarche at Abbeville, just where you exit the first bit of toll road and join the freebie bit for the run down to Rouen.

There's also the Super U that we use to fill up with fuel on the way home - just off the last bit of road after the final toll booth. The bit which you were doing 'some' miles an hour when we did the late run down on a Friday...

Bonjour ! Just coming up to 11.00pm here, so getting in my stamina training for when I watch the first few hours live on Eurosport.

The Super U is here by the way:

So you go *just* past it, and then take the slip road and back over the bridge. Easy peasy... Also happens to be where we stop with the motorhome on the way to the classic, so if you can be sure to ask them to re-stock with plenty of beer for that weekend it would be much appreciated

If you exit the A28 at the northern most Le Mans exit (St Saturnin/Zone Industriel Nord) then there is a large supermarket (Auchan?) in with all the out of town shops. Link to Google Maps.

There didn't seem to be any other race goers in there in the times we've called in, and isn't out of your way.

The E.Leclerc in Alencon, which is the last town before Le Mans on the autoroute, is huge and good for a big shop to get all your essentials. We've tried other supermarkets in Le Mans itself but they've always been rammed.

When at the track we also use the Carrefour in Mulsanne, which has the added bonuses of an authentic boulangerie/pattisserie next door to it, and only being a stones throw from the roundabout at Mulsanne Corner. Doing your shopping with the wail of racing engines audible inside the shop is a fantastic experience!

Thanks. Normally use the Mulsanne one at some point over the weekend, just wanted to try and avoid going out again when we arrive on the Thursday.

we usually break the trip at Bernay come of the autoroute and it will be on your right as you approach the town has a great cafe and cheapest fuel I think it is intermarche

Sorry to steal the thread but this is relevant - bottles or cans? is it expected that glass bottles will be banned from the campsites or was that over zealous security last year and in fact everything is fine unless you try to take them trackside?

Recommend the LeClerc at Alencon as well. If you take the last exit for Alencon (jct 19?) off the autoroute then straight over (2nd exit) at the 1st roundabout back towards the town and commercial centre is about a mile up the road at the next roundabout. Well easy to get in and out of without getting stuck in traffic. There's a McDonalds too if you're in need of a burger fix!;)

We always stop at The Carrefour Market D'Orbec Vespiere, in Orbec. Just off the A28 at junction 15. We buy wine and food, have a pee and gas up. Chance to grab something to eat as well, just off the Peage. Leaves less than 100 miles to Le Mans for the final stretch of the drive.
