Le Mans Classic noob questions

Morning all,

My first time at the Classic is approaching rapidly and I've got a bunch of questions that some of you more seasoned Classic attendees can probably help with. Any pointers appreciated...!

- Looks like it's just my dad and I travelling to the event. We're booked in with the PH camping offer and have a couple of two man tents. Will our regular pitch size be big enough to accommodate us plus the car (either Focus RS / Kuga / 997 C2S - as yet undecided)...?

- How strict is the dress code...? I won't be looking live a chav, but neither to I fancy the mix of camping and period costume. Jeans and shirts OK...?

- Already been advised to take walkie-talkies to save on roaming fees. I assume that most people use PMR446 spec radios, so is there a PH "secrecy" (CTCSS sub-channel) code in use for these radios...? If not, do we select one...?

- Is there any live media coverage...? Radio Le Mans on FM or AM...? Short range TV broadcast...? If so I'll bring a decent pocket radio. If there's tele, is it analogue or DVB-T...?

- Is there power available on site to charge all my gizmos up...? If so will I be OK charging a small leisure battery (golf cart gel cell) to power my stuff back at the tent...?

- Can anyone recommend a SIM only PAYG data deal with a french operator so I can get online...? Maybe a Yallo / Lebara type thing...?

- Provided it's not raining, I will mint up the car when I get there as I don't want it looking all crappy from the drive up through France. Typically, is the camping area dusty at all...? If it is, I won't bother bringing all my cleaning gear.

There's probably more questions to come but this is a good start. Many thanks in advance for any info.

Will answer what I can (have edited your list down a bit)

- pitch might be 'cozy' but doable - not much room to sit around, but if it's just the two of you... But check with the PH camping organiser as I'm not sure if their plot sizes or parking arrangements are different to the regular sites.

- dress code isn't strict, but people were smarter than at the main race

- Yes - Radio Le Mans should be there

- if it's hot, then yes, dust can be a bit of an issue, but it's not like any of them are total dust-bowls. One of those shaggy dust-sweeping brushes should help keep the car looking tidy

I'll just be taking a large microfibre to dry mine off with after using the new jet wash place near the circuit.

Dress code aint very strict at all, wasnt in 2010 anyhows.

Some of the car parks can be very dusty is it's dry (like 2010). I still recall driving out of Bleu several years ago wishing the exhaust on the Westfield was on the other side. Tough balance of a larger cloud of dust or being caught by the fast food stall owners I had just subjected to a sand storm
