ACO membership?

Just received in the post a membership card to Passion 24 VIP!

Now I have been on the ACO website in the past and registered my name, but I have never given them any Bank account or card details? I have a piece of paper saying €86.70 and date of payment? WTF is going on?

Anyone else just got a membership pack like this?

Do I understand this correctly? When staying with TL they throw in a supplementary Passion VIP membership? That's 102 euros?

No, It was something I had done through booking

Is ACO membership worth the premium? im sure i heard in 2008 something about better showers and pizza but i may have been drunk :-D as im driving this year i thought about membership and was wondering if anybody could explain the benefits, cheers,

You don't need necessarily need ACO Membership to access the showers + discounted refreshments.

You can access these if you have seats in the ACO grandstand.

To me the advantages are:

1. ACO members only advance access to the ACO website for ordering tickets for GE, tribunes, parking, whatever you wish
2. Decent allocation of tickets per member..6 I think
3. Access to the ACO tribune. During the event, access is only available to members producing their membership card or to non members who have seats in the tribune. The tribune includes seating opposite the pits, a couple of bars and cafes, and good loos and showers.

You also get quite a lot of glossy publications but these are less important items.

Whether or not you feel it's worth the €96 or so cost really depends on what you need. If you're only interested in camping and GE tickets I think ACO membership is questionable. If you want GE, parking and tribune seats (anywhere at the circuit) then the ACO membership gets these cheaper than via one of the many agengies/organisations that do trips there too.

You can also go to the ACO direct for all the tickets but getting what you really want is likely to be difficult.

Cheers for the info, I think that's decided then, our tickets get booked by the same chap every year so the only benefit would be the tribunes access and parking so Ill give it a miss I think,

Additionally you can get breakdown cover from them for (IIRC) 25€. They issue ongoing updates (printouts) to members hourly during the race. And they've a members only enclosure towards Dunlop bridge with some good trackside viewing. Membership for us means it gets us into the grandstands for the equivalent of €50 each for me and my wife, and we can cart another 4 mates along for €10 each (last year).

Depending on who your ticket chap is he may discount your arrangement with him toreflect your ACO membership - just a thought.
