How is your pitch set out? And tent size?

Afternoon people

How does the LM die yards set out their 7x5 pitch? We're about to buy our camping equipment but don't know the best way to set out the pitch and what shape or size tent will be best for the 4 of us and a plot this size

Our car (5 series) has to fit on the pitch too

So, how do you do it?

P.S, if you're leaving on the thurs 14th like us, then it's 6 WEEKS TO GO!!!

We go with two two man tents, gazebo, bbq and room for the Scirocco. Helps if you get a pitch by the road so you can park up on there.

With one pitch and four blokes, you're going to struggle, depends how cosy you are prepared to be in the tent I guess !

You really want an 8 man tent for four blokes, two sleeping at each end with space in the middle section or go for four seperate compact one man pop up tents and keep your gear in the car.

However, you can normally 'borrow' a bit of space from the lanes running between the tents to free up a bit of room. As long as you are concious of your neighbours being able to get in and out it shouldn't be a problem. In fact whilst you are at the site you could move your car right out of the way to give you some space then put it back on your pitch when you are out.

Come to WRR's house and don't worry about pitch sizes ever again.

Also depends what site you are on. we also arrive latish but to unmarked BJR and you can generally take as much space as you want

I'm thinking my car will leave us with 5x5, so a 5x3 tent sounds pretty big to me. That gives us a bit of space out front I think.

As this is our first time, I suppose it's trial and error.

You will get the tent up, camping chairs out, beers opened and start planning next years!

Get measurements of your car / tents etc...

Get a pen, use eg. 2cm for a metre, and bobs your uncle! It's going to be a tight squeeze.

We camp at BSJ, sometimes they set the pitches other times not. However, we always buy a pitch ticket for a 'car', that normally means 1 car and 2 x 2 man tents. Then we whack a gazebo up in the middle. Perhaps doesn't really matter at that campsite!

Yup, we had to leave a table at home however. Swapped the Scirocco this year for an (old) Punto and Caterham so will be an even bigger logistical nightmare!

Telling fibs, we buy a bbq from Super U when we get there.

There's about 12-15 cars in our group, so we should have plenty of space to share between us on Bleu Nord.

Camping in the wooded grounds of a private house not so far from the Porsche curves. If I say any more I'll be living in fear of the black helicopters...

I've stayed at Area 24 for a few years now. You won't find a better spot from which to enjoy LM. I stayed in the main campsite area for the first year or two, where we were robbed and the dust and noise is unbearable :-(
