Mulsanne for the start?

Last year we were camping at Houx and we drove down to Mulsanne and watched the start of the race. Much quieter than at the other end of the cirsuit with good view of the track, big screen and good catering.
If I was going this year, I would be looking to camp there.
Just felt like a good friendly atmosphere.

As I say I think I shall definitely go there for the start on Saturday, as I think my viewing time's going to be limited, and then do the main circuit as an all-dayer Sunday... We stay South of Le Mans, so I'm hoping getting in will be easier than sitting in the queues through Arnage etc.

I'm not sure that there is a quick way. We normally do a lap of from Houx to the viewpoints at Porsche curves/Arnage/Mulsanne and then back to Houx during the night by bicycle. It seems to be quicker than car as far as Arnage as the roads are all blocked. There are normally a few pedestrians as well so it's probably walkable. The roads are quite clear from Arnage to Mulsanne but it is a trek and long sections are not lit and would take a while on foot. Though I normally do it in the middle of the night after a few drinks and at least two nights of sleep deprivation, so the route may be a bit different. You have my apologies for that!
If you do decide to walk it at night, having reflective clothing and/or lights might make it a bit safer.
That seems to be quite the right route! My start of the race is head to Mulsanne at about 11 am, settle ourselves in the shades of the trees and watch the remainder of the morning spectacle with a few brewskis and wait for the big one to commence!
Edit: just followed your route on google streetview, and it was exactly the route I usually follow starting from Houx, past Beausejour etc. Mid june there are purple signs indicating the exact way to go though!

Frankly, there isn't one. You have to go left from the campsite under the Porsche Curves bridge to the roundabout, then straight on for a mile or so towards Arnage, then left back towards Arnage bend, then right going away from the circuit to the crossroads, then left which will take you to the entrance to Mulsanne viewing area. Frankly, it isn't feasable since it'll take you several hours on foot. Oh, and by the way, they are building a new roundabout at Arnage bend! lowdrag said:
