This is a 1000km or 6 hour race and involves a lot of the cars that ran at Le Mans this year (unfortunately not the Corvettes). It takes place on Saturday the 14th of August at Silverstone. On the Sunday the 15th there is the British F3 race and also the British GT championship rounds which will have up to 3 Corvettes running.

See the link below for full details and how to get tickets etc.

Some of us are planning on camping and making it like a mini Le Mans!!

Camping access only available after 6pm
So you either have to miss some of the race or put your tent up in the dark!

And as usual, no info on www.lmes.net. How I love this organisation.

I went when the did the ELMS (Euro LM Series of the ALMS) and it was an excellent weekend.

I really wanted to go this year too but have booked myself on to trackdays now instead.

Have fun you lot!

Yesterday was a fantastic day, the LMES race being the highlight of the program, although the Classic cars, as ever were simply awesome.

With the race lasting so long, it gave ample time to walk round every vantage point inside and outside of the track.

Thoroughly a great day!

Just got back from the LMES and British GT/ F3 racing (today)

Great race, great result. Made better because I found a bright ormnade bib with "Media" on it, so spent most of the race inside the pit garages/ pit wall/ media centre.

The pictures will follow. Never felt so privelidged. Or lucky...

You're lucky no one noticed as the Orange ones were not valid on Sunday and had you been spotted, you'd have been ejected from the pit lane, minus a tabbard.

Not wishing to rain on you, but the pits are possible the most dangerous area at a track due to cars coming in at speed and if you don't know what you're doing you could get seriously injured.

Yes I noticed they were white on the sunday, so I didnt chance my luck and returned to being a mere spectator. And you are absolutly correct about the dangers of the pit lane. But I did keep my eyes and ears open, and kept well out of the way when the cars were moving. Still, it was one of those mements which is great fun and once-in-a-lifetime experience- it is unlikely I could ever get into the pit area normally...

My pictures are here:

Don't moan about the quality of the website please- purely am amateur affair just to show the pictures.

I had to laugh a few weeks ago at FIA GT's at Donington, at the exit of the esses were a group of press photographers on the dangerious side of the fence, all had the big Canon grey lens massive jobbies except one bloke who was taking pictures with his phone

Love the picture of the 917 in the garage, is that the one owned by Bobby Rahal?. I watched it blasting down the Mulsanne at the Le Mans Classic the year before last, what a fantastic racket those things make, getting goosebumps now just thinking about it.

That 917 was georgeous. We managed to have a good chat to the guys in the garage too.
