Joing the ACO

What are the benefits of joining the ACO? Do you get preferential treatment when applying for camping passes etc?

I've been an ACO member for several years, and it's getting increasingly difficult to justify renewing each year. This year it cost €90 which I'm sure is nearly twice what it cost 5-6 years ago (perhaps someone else can remember).

You don't get any sort of preferential treatment other than a price discount on (upto 6) entry and camping tickets.

You can get 2 ACO grandstand tickets per membership but again there is no guarantee of getting them.

If you are buying tickets for 4 people the discounts will add upto the membership price.

You also get sent a couple of poorly translated newsletters, a programme, a results booklet, a poster and a detailed car/driver entry list booklet.

I had a ticket for the ACO stand this year. Marvellous stuff it was too. Clean and pleasant toilets, a bar, food, TVs round the back to sit and enjoy the race on (out of the sun) and a view of the diamond screen on the pit-side.

I joined the ACO and it didn't cost €90 more like €60 but I forget the exact amount. For that I got access to the ACO club house - a huge semi-airconditioned hall with discounted bar, food, champagne etc. wide screen tv and clean toilets. Also got about €10 discount off 6 x entry tickets and as previously mentioned the programme, poster, entry list etc. Seemed ok value to me. Rich...

In my opinionn its good value. On top of everything above they throw in one complete recovery per year- so if the worse does happen, you can get back to the UK.

Plus you cna get discounts on the ever-more popular le mans classic and motorbike races at LM.

I will certianly be renewing!

I joined ACO this year at the race, mainly to get the discount tickets for next year - for 4 or 5 of us it nearly pays for itself.

The main choice is between ACO and Club 24 - they both cost about the same, the difference being that with ACO you get the breakdown recovery, discount tickets, entry to club enclosure and chance to buy grandstand tickets. With Club 24 you get a programme, poster, entry list, full results and photo, not sure which of the other benefits you get though.

I paid an extra 30euros to get the programme etc. as I was interested in the breakdown cover provision of the ACO membership.

thought they were one and the same? At least my ACO membership card says so... and joined as Club24, and got discount tickets etc... not worried abt the breakdown cover...

the price on the front of my ticket was 100.

The TVRCC folks in stand 16 (I think) had a better view of the diamond screen.

But it was worth it for the ice cold beer (although bizarrely they only sold Amstel), the English toilet, the iced cream seller with frozen Magnums.
